    Hi guys,

Whilst I've played both Mass Effect (ME) and ME2 on the 360 I want to relive the experience on my M14x. I was thinking downloading ME from Steam but, after a bit of googling, it would seem that some people have had difficulties playing the game on Win7.

Has anybody here played it and, if so, with or without problems? If you had problems, how did you rectify them or did you give it up as a lost cause?

    Many thanks.

I think if you get the right patch for ME, it works just fine. I recall something like a 5 minute delay while I googled for a fix the first time I played (on my M11x), and then armed with that knowledge, it was no trouble at all on my M14x. Perfect 62 fps, too. Great games. :)

I downloaded Mass Effect 1 and Dragon Age: Origins from Steam and both work perfectly without having to do anything. (Dragon Age is also made by Bioware and has similar but updated graphics).

I bought ME1 from Steam ($20) and aside from early low FPS, now it works great.

The latest patch works fine for me with a retail copy on my M14x. Just make sure to add the Mass Effect executable to the list of GPU-enabled games in the nVidia control panel, or it'll be very slow (probably what's causing your low FPS).

Wish I could, but it was over a year ago (on my M11x at the time). But I'm sure just getting the latest patch will do the trick.

The patch you're looking for is 1.02, which is the latest.
