I just upgraded my m14xr2 to Corsair CMSX8GX3M2A1866C10 memory form newegg (4x2GB). The first time it booted fine, but I noticed using CPU-Z that the memory was running at 1600. The latencies were a bit better but I wanted it to run at 1866, since that is what I paid for, and I even planned to overclock a touch if possible and tweak from there.
When I went into the bios I found out why it was running at 1600. The memory was manually set to run at 1600, which was not a problem for the previous memory.
I tried auto, but never could get it to POST, so I ended up doing a complete teardown to get to the CMOS battery and reset it. After I did all of that I still could not get it to boot, and I decided to put old memory back in and now it boots again.
I have tried AUTO in the bios which did not work, no post. I tried forcing 1866, leaving everything default, no post.
I could try manually setting everything but Corsair has no info on all the different parameters. Only the 10-10-10-27 etc, but none of the other info for the last 5 or 6 numbers below those. I was able to grab a screenshot of CPU-Z and it had another number, and the BIOS would not even go that high! So I'm at a loss here of what I can do. Any help would be appreciated![]()
Side note: I am used to the larger laptops and they have so much more info available online. I researched memory before purchase and found two that were verified to work, and it looked like a toss up so I grabbed this one. It's not like I randomly picked one hoping it would work!

Do you have a XMP settings in your BIOS, if you do set to that and it should be clock at 1866

I tried both XMP 1 and XMP 2. Just got beeps. On default it would come up, only if I had the speed forced to 1600. That is the only way I have been able to get it booted. The bad thing is a few things are having problems. Screen saver stops responding and WEI fails everytime. Seems like memory problems to me. It may not be "bad", but just not fully compatible? I know I read someone else got it working, but they did not post all of the values they used to do it manually.
I think I may have to just reorder the other one I read people had working. Which is Newegg.com - Kingston HyperX 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1866 HyperX Plug n Play Laptop Memory Model KHX1866C11S3P1K2/8G
On the positive side at least I know how to tear it down now! If I have to do that many more times, I will install a small switch inline with the CMOS battery so I never have to take it apart again! -

They won't work , 32 nm only support up to.
Only HyperX PnP is working on 1833/2133 mhz.

PS : I don't see a performance gain from 1333/1600/1866mhz -

We recommend using ram up to 1600MHz, however I've seen people who have upgraded to 1866MHz in the M14xR2. Corsairs haven't been validated yet. If you're trying to make the upgrade with the Corsairs and the machine doesn't post, maybe you should try a different brand perhaps Kingston. Send me a PM I can personally help you with that.

Blue version of Kingston HyperX ram will not work (some tweak maybe)
Only the grey version Kingston HyperX with PnP will work. -
I jut wanted to update this thread. I did end up returning the Corsair memory, and installed the Kingston grey HyperX that I linked to in my second post above. They did not run at 1866 by default, and I had to force the XMP 1 in order to get them to work at 1866.
I mainly did it to get 8GB memory, but also to have dual channel, and also to play around with 1600/1866 and maybe even overclocking memory.
Thanks everyone who helped out, I appreciate the input/advice.
