Hmm... which new CPUs I wonder?
-
Probably the new Sandy Bridge series. Cant remember what theyre called 2160QM or something? Its coming out in Q4 I believe
-
Or maybe the Ivy Bridge? (or whatever it call), Can anyone here try it and tell the result? Because I dont want to update it yet as the A03 is doing fine, at the moment. Thanks
To Dell: Cant you be MORE specific?
English version to that link: M14x Driver and Download -
so basically, this is of no use to anyone at this point in time. ugh
-
has A04 done anything to the GPU/battery issue?
-
Nah, it just said "Support new CPUs" in the Fixes and Enhancements area.
-
2760QM-2960XM? 2.7 GHz default and 3.7 GHz boost. WOW
-
I read somewhere about Dell trying to address the loud fan issue with a firmware update. Was hoping the Bios upgrade would address that. Guess not.
-
Well guess I if the 2920 is in the m14x then alienware has finally caught up to my m14x
-
Which drivers should one download upon a reformat, the ones on the resource dvd? or dell.com?
-
Wherever place you get from, is doesnt matter except for the command centre that is on the Disc: Do not use the Command Center from your Resource DVD!
But it is recommend to get from the website, since it would has the latest version of that particular driver. -
Thanks, also i tried downloading the current nvidia driver from their website and upon installing it, it wasn't compatible with my hardware.
Mind posting a link of the best current video driver to use, thanks.
this was the one i downloaded : "280.26-notebook-win7-winvista-64bit-international-whql.exe" -
"....Worse, the M14x's cooling fan kicked on frequently and was quite loud. While you probably won't hear this rig over gaming explosions, it was very noticeable in a quiet room. Alienware told us that they are aware of the issue and are looking to correct it via a firmware update...."
This paragraph is from this link > Alienware M14x Review
still waiting for that but the A03 Bios maintains cooler the m14x....!
-
For the nVidia Driver, u need a modded .inf file which can be found HERE
Select the right version you want to download and click on "Click here to download driver and INF files." -
I flashed to bios 04 and it went smooth, settings OC, Memory etc. all stayed the same I had in bios 03, no added features that I could see, BUT the good news for me is that the fan kicks in once in 15 min now during some desktop work, plus defragment which I suddenly appreciate lol.
-
Cool, I might want to try it today as well, when I got home.
I'll update once done. -
yea. didn't really make a difference going from a03 to a04 for me
