You just need to modify the .inf file to get it to install, I can't do it now but if no one else has helped you I can upload a modified version when I get home. All you need to do is add the id strings from the Dell .inf file to the .inf file in the Nvidia one if you feel brave.

If you have not already, can you compare and contrast your two systems beyond the obvious?

I think this link might help.

    LaptopVideo2Go

1 thing made me confuse is that, there is another driver release a day after the .26 version, which is 280.28 version, just wonder what is the different.

I thought this might also help some people, and for people want to see what's new in this version: 280.26 Notebook Release Notes

thats weird ... i mean i´ve tried last night this version and the Gt555 didnt kick in even if the game is on the white list. the dell driver works fine.

i got an Asus U series and the nvidia drivers works like a charm and it gets its own utility to show the discrete card (310m) activity on the task bar.

whats the difference between the two? we supposed to be able to install drivers from nvidia without modded .inf right?

No all nvidia drivers must be inf modified to work on the m14x. Without modification they wont install. Only dell approved nvidia drivers will install without modification

i'm having the same problem. I installed 280.26 and modded the inf myself per the directions on the youtube vid. Where previously with the dell driver it worked fine, now it won't use the 555.

Then i used the laptop 2 go driver and the modded inf for 280.28. Same problem. I tried messing with the whitelist and the global settings and it still does not work. Any suggestions?

Graphics drivers always amaze me because anytime they edit or add something, something else completely unrelated breaks lol.

download the nvidia driver 280.26 (not 28) and the updated INF file that's located in the forums on laptopvideo2go. They both work fine. They support dx11 and no performance changes in games so far.

ohh to those who are having problems with gta4 this update fixed it...even though in the settings it says ur over the memory blah blah blah..i was getting a soild 55+ fps with everything on..cheers =)

I tried it and saw two problems even after multiple different install types(dell driver+install over, dell driver-->clean install, fresh start--->this driver, etc). The two problems were 1-optimus didn't work 2-the card refused to go over 2d clocks, it wouldn't hit the 3d clocks or even overclock. I'd steer clear of this driver. This was after multiple different mods that installed perfectly to ensure it wasn't a problem in the way it was being installed as well. I'm planning on trying all of the different drivers tomorrow and will report back on gaming and benchmark performance sometime this weekend.

I tried installing this driver, didn't notice any problems until I tried getting my laptop to go into sleep mode. Previous 275.33 would have a problem where it'd keep eating RAM up till my 8GBs was left with ~200MB left free. Was forced to revert to the old Dell driver again.

Sleep problem was with the 280.26 drivers. RAM-eating was the 275.33. Don't know why this happens, everyone else seems to have gotten the 275.33 drivers working perfectly.

I'm talking about this: nicholaslimck's post I never had any sleep problem before.

RAM-Eater? How come? Because I ran games like BFBC2, it never use more than 1.5GB of the GPU Ram nor my 6GB RAM, the only time I see it use over 5GB is when I do heavy multi-tasking.

By RAM-Eater, I mean that it would keep on using up RAM constantly, till there was only ~200MB left of my 8GB. Never noticed it do anything to the GPU's RAM.

I didn't do anything actually, the RAM usage just kept rising and rising. Didn't even try playing a game. No idea what's the exact reason, just know it's related to the driver as the problem was resolved once i reverted to the original Dell drivers.

EDIT: Oh never mind, tried installing 275.33 today and the RAM-eating problem didn't surface. Strange.
