So yea, after a 2 months my M14X died, motherboard failed.

4 weeks later they finally have motherboards in stock again and manage to come round to fix my laptop.

1 restart after the technician has left and my M14x has died again.
    damn you 7 beeps.

Phoned them up again and they are coming round on Monday or Tuesday.

Dell are such a joke, think im going to get it fixed and sell it tbh...

Anybody else have a problem like this?

Dude,mi believe the M14x is a joke. The laptop is plagued with so many issues I'm surprised it hasn't met the same fate the M15x has. If you need portability go for M11x, if you need gaming power go with M17x or M18x, it's safe to say Dell killed the good Alienware brand. They need to release M14x r2 as soon as possible, cause the first one is a joke.

What was so bad about the M15? Alienware prior to Dell had done a 15" laptop for years. So far my unit has been treating me very well and my beloved recently received her M14.

Is this a situation of too much power in too small a package?

it is a bit of a joke, im reading that it might be a bios issue so ima see if i can do that today, but my whole experience with the m14x hasn't been great.

how much do you reckon you can get for a second hand M14x? haha

I never had issues like this. I had some small piece (supposedly it was an electrolyte capacitor?) fall out, which wasn't a big deal and I could still use the system but I apparently need all of them in to conduct power properly, as there are dozens of them on there. So instead of sending out a tech they made me send it in (lame, but it took 30 seconds to connect to a rep so I didnt want to find another and jinx it). I got the box the next day and mailed it on Friday of one week, and got it back the next (exactly 7 days). I didnt get a GF116 core GPU, but I still think thats a pretty bad problem. I dont know if its NVIDAS or Dells fault though. Either way I dont think it should happen.

Anyways, I dont really see whats wrong with it. You got a couple bad motherboards, that's not really Dells fault. Theyre coming out right after the weekend so it seems theyre trying to do the best they can. I dont know how that's a joke. You want some guy to miss the superbowl because your computer doesn't work? Cmon man, Giants vs Patriots! Just give it time and everything will be fine.

Also, I dont know how getting an m11x or m17x is any different. You just said you hated Dell and because your system is broken, its a joke and therefor you shouldve gotten a DIFFERENT Dell computer. does not compute

After 3 attempts, I would demand a new computer all together. My first M17x was blowing motherboards. It turned out to be the fitment of something inside and it was causing a short on the motherboard. They finally sent me a brand new system. They tried to send me a refurb, but i complained to no end and got a new system.

if the thing breaks more than 3x fixes - DEMAND for a new laptop (NOT refurbished)... and if they don't, get a refund... and if worst comes to worst you could just buy a new one with your refund if your faith hasn't worn out completely (although i LOVE my m14x - just got lucky with my refurb).

You can get a refund even after the 21 days, you just need to be on call with someone who understands the troubles you are having with a non-functioning system. 2yrs in of the 4 yrs of completecare and I'm getting a full refund.

We do have a 'warranty issues' thread in the main Alienware section.
