Hi guys. Just a disclaimer, i'm not really knowledgeable about computers and what not. So, found an update on AlienAutopsy for the BIOS. Did the update thinking it'll improve my m14x somehow. Restarted it, and i found the red cross on the bottom left corner of my audio icon. I went to my device manager > sound, video and game controllers to update my drivers, still didn't work after a restart. Is there a way for my to go back to my previous BIOS (if that's possible) or am i screwed?

Go to the device manager again, and instead of updating the driver, uninstall it and re start the system. Windows should install the driver automatically so check again after re starting.

It also happen to me sometime, what i did was restart it for couple times until everything act normally

There is something much more weird, when this problem occured, try to enter bios and enter performance option in the advance tab. Your laptop will freeze. I dont know if this just happen to me or it also happen to the others.

It not just the audio device did not found, sometimes nvidia gt650m also did not activated and it become worse after i upgrade bios to A09 version.

    Finally worked.

    Find the logic in this:

1- System restored to just prior update
2- FN-F7 for switchable graphics (rebooted computer) - Audio now worked
    3- Undid the System Restore
4- FN-F7 to undo the Graphics (rebooted computer) - Graphics (Areo) and Audio now works
    5- ???
    6- Profit.

BTW I should mention I have an m17xR4 which has a known issue with A09. Dell's official fix is to go to A05, but the download they provide is considered "Unsafe" using their own software, auto shuts down the installer. Therefore I couldn't install it. *slow clap*
