Nvidia released 285.27 beta drivers today for the GT 555M if anyone is interested. I'm going to test them out later.
NVIDIA DRIVERS 285.27 BETA
-
Downloading right now...
-
Installed all right....
Autocad and Photoshop working fine.
Will test games later. -
I presume these drivers also require .inf modifications?
Any performance gains? -
Hey, it doesn't need modded .inf's, at least for me, so on behalf of all alienware m14x owners...woohooooo!
-
no modded inf............awesome
...downloading will check and get back
-
is optimus working correctly on this? it says hybrid graphics are not supported by this release.. as it does with every release
-
so you literally download and install?!?! has dell finally got act together?
-
downloading now...those of you that have downloaded is optimus gone??
-
no need to use modded inf and optimus working just fine...!!!
-
thanks ino i installed it and i have no problems. i was running gta iv (off steam) no problems on high settings
-
rly? couldnt play GTAIV...it lags heavly
u did smth different to play it? its running smooth? or just lucky?
-
yeahh...if someone could tell me how to play gta IV also....otherwise tested all other games.....nfs shift...cod all good
-
Need for Speed Hot Pursuit and GTA 4 lags heavily on every drivers i tested
GPUZ shows that the gpu is not used at maximum so it must be the problem
I am so disappointed to see even NFS is lagging every 5 seconds just because GPU is not sollicitate all the time at maximum -
would be interested to know if anyone has tested this driver on the witcher 2? any feedback would be appreciated
-
I've been using 275.27 for witcher 2 and I've had no issues. I've been running 280.26 right now and it's perfect. What issues are you anticipating?
-
what i might have done differently than you was that i did a clean install of the driver then i went to the nvidia control panel and i restored it to the original settings then i changed the settings it looks like this. in the pic
then when i opened up the game via steam it was still in the crappy 800x600 resolution, so after the first menu it has an "options" option at the bottom of the screen. click that and change the settings to how you would like them.
thats what i did and it worked hopefully it will work for you as well
good luck!!
edit: also im sure you know you should be plugged in and be on high performance modeAttached Files:

gta iv still choppy :/
-
No modded INF needed? About freak'n time!
-
Is there any danger in installing a new driver?
-
Also should I install this 285.27 or the 280.26? I have no idea what directory the modded .inf file goes to for the second choice.
-
C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\280.26\WinVista_Win7_64\International\Display.Driver
i think this is it -
so is the new beta driver worth installing or is it a bust?
-
i think its worth it due to not having to use a modded inf. but at the end of the day its your call
-
I would be glad if it get rid of the Optimus, I mean get rid of the iGP, so then I dont have to worry or bother whitelist every single game to have it run on the GT555M.
Mine doesnt for the NFS Hot Pursuit, as well as GTA4, but just some trouble to get the GTA4 work. NFSHP work just fine after whitelist the game.
Oh, btw the driver I use for GTA4 is 275.33, so far it is the BEST, I never had any prob with it at all. And I do also have a look at that driver, and notice that the link provide by OP is for the Desktop Version ONLY, Ref: 285.27 Beta for Desktop
And this is the one for Laptop: 285.27 Beta for Laptop -

really dont understand this whirelisting problem, can you not just open control panel and select "run from nvidia GPU" in global settings? -

Well that is one, there're 2 more way that you can force it to run, which is the "Program Setting" which is next to the Global Setting thingy, and the third option is that you can right click on the .exe file > Run with Graphic Processor > High Performance NVIDIA Processor. That's the 3 option you can force the GPU, but for the 3rd one it only last for that session, meaning once you exit the game/program, you will have to redo it again.
BTW, your quoting is mess up, you mix my quote with yours, when I first read I was like
-
my quoting was my 1 year old lol. leave the room for one min and look what happens
-
Works pretty well, raise my WEI a bit and a bit better performance in DiRT 3, although maybe I just didn't stress my GPU before.
-
I arrive at work early, so I like to play 15-20 minutes in the car before heading in. Where I am at that point, I do not have access to the internet, so I can't play games off Steam or those with the "need internet connection to play" DRM, such as Mass Effect.
So, before leaving home this morning I downloaded this new driver, and I installed it while sitting in my car. I launched Oblivion.
The game is on Ultra, I get 5-10 FPS inside my little home on the Imperial City waterfront.
Now, is this because I'm on battery, even though my AlienFUSION setting is on Performance? The game is set to NVidia GPU in the control panel.
I will try again plugged in when I arrive home tonight, but I want to know NOW!.
Thank you. -
Finally GTA IV works without straight out of the box!
Have had the drivers installed for a couple of days, seem stable so far. -
Depends on your BIOS. If you are on A03 or later then yes, it's because the GPU is downclocked.
-
Oblivion Ultra = 30+ plugged. Yay!
-
Is 285.27 better than the stock dell driver? *Nevermind I think I will stick with stock
