Welcome to the Alienware M14x Benchmark thread here on NBR. Here you can discuss benchmark results, tips, settings and of course post your results for the community to see...
There are several apps which can be used to benchmark your system. Following is a short list of some which are typically used. There are others and the core benchmarking members will have plenty of suggestions - so ask away.
FutureMark Benchmark Apps- PCMark Vantage
- 3DMark 11 - Basic Edition
- 3DMark Vantage
- 3DMark 06
Component Benchmark Tools- POVRay v3.7 (multi-threaded version)
- Fritz 9 Chess Benchmark - standalone
- SuperPi Mod v1.5
- HDTune
- Everest Ultimate - Trial Version
- HWiNFO32
- MaxxPI²
Game Benchmark Tools & Others- S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat benchmark
- Resident Evil 5 Benchmark
- Unigine Heaven
- Crysis Benchmark Tool v1.05
- Alien vs. Predator DX11 Benchmark
A word of caution concerning benchmarking... While benchmarking / number chasing can be quite a bit of fun, please be aware that benchmarking/overclocking your system is pushing your system to its limits. It can and will stress your components. Do so at your own risk - nobody is responsible for this but you.
Finally, as with all threads here on NBR, please remember the forum rules when posting. Any images over 500x500 must be resized. Images embedded within posts which are over 500x500 will be removed. Repeat offenders will receive infractions. There is no reason you cannot take a moment to resize or use thumbnail previews. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation with this.
Have fun folks and lets see how far you can push the M14x!![]()

@ m14x. I'm assuming you can run crysis 1 on extreme or crysis warhead on enthusiast using 1366X768 and a GPU OC, averaging around 30 FPS right?
-
You should include GPU-Z to verify the clocks and e.g. CPU-Z in the screenshot, then all information is available.
Nice work, now I want to see 8k vantage -
anyone out there with a 3 gig 555m?
-
I was wondering if anybody that has the m14x could run some benchmarks for games (Crysis 2, HL, Bad Company, Starcraft) so I can get a idea if I would be happy with this laptop on a external monitor (where I would be doing most of my gaming)
-
getting mine on the 5th.... will try to post results then
-
The overclocks are very impressive - well done guys.
Any chance though of someone posting 3dMark06 etc without an overclock? -

Got my m14x today.
- i7-2720QM CPU @ 2.20GHz
- 4GB RAM (STOCK)
- NVIDIA Geforce 555M 3GB (Driver version : 270.61)
- 500GB 7200RPM HDD (STOCK)
Everything is stock (except the nvidia driver), nothing is overclocked. I powered it on, went through the out-of-box stuff, and installed the latest nVidia driver, and installed 3DMark Vantage and ran the test.
Score : P6305 3DMarksAttached Files:

so, compared with the 1.5-which is better? I definitely still think there is no difference, i read somewhere the comparisons and see no difference

Not too shabby. I'll do some overclocking later tonight and post the results too.
As for 1.5GB vs. 3GB. I do see a slight improvement score with the 3GB but probably not worth the $100 right off the bat. But who knows, later on, larger textures, bigger games. The benchmarks will tell eh?Attached Files:

ive seen some more benchmarks around with the 1.5 gig and 3 gig the 3 gig leads with an average of 150 to 200 more on 3d mark 06 lmao all i have to say is dell would
-
thats nice...can you please provide us a link to that benchmarks?
would be great to see
EDIT: ok i found the "comparison/review" about amount/performance in grafics card...as far i understand there is not much difference between them -
Why don't we have a benchmarking leaderboard in this thread like in the M17x/M15x benchmarking threads? It would be nice so we can just look at the first page and see what the top scores are and from who.
-
I dont have a screen shot because my computer is currently jacked but the run I had on 3dmark I got 15344 with 770 core and 1000 memory on the gpu no artifacts. 1.5gb gpu stock drivers 2720qm
-
Hi 1 question , is the amd radeon 6770m faster than gt555m on m14x or not,
i am really confused. -
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
-
Wheres all the 3GB 555M benchmarks!!
-
With 3GB card and everything stock. Here is my 3DMark 11 score. I am upgrading ram as well as putting in a SSD tomorrow with a fresh install so I will run it again and see if anythings different.
Will someone with the 1.5GB card run 3DMark 11 with everything stock and post so we can compare. Thanks
3DMark Vantage stock 3.0GB 555m
Edit:
Here is 3DMark 06 also stock everything
-
so, what's the difference btw the two? in your opinion is there really a big difference?
-
my stock 3ddmark11 (free version) score was 1322 -
then the conclusion is:
M14x CPU 2630 GPU 1.5, 4gb ram: total score 1322
M14x CPU 2720 GPU 3.0, 4gb ram: total score 1343 -
Could that extra 20+ points be down to something else though and not only that aren't computers not perfectly equal so it could just be luck that its slightly faster
-
Just updated my post on the previous page with 3dmark 06 even though it doesn't mean much nowdays.
I don't know why someone else had a lower score with the same cpu/gpu and drivers I did. -
Also that 20 point difference is probably because processor

oc to 780mhz core, 1000 memory:
14906 3dmark06
75 max temp cpu
84 max temp gpu -
did you have any artifacts on 3dmark06 i got them on canyon flight over 773
-
-
try 773 1080 that is the highest oc i got without artifacts seems to be stable for gaming as well
-
This is with artifacts just for the fun of it. 15967. I am getting close to 16k.

Is it worth it to overclock the M14x?
-
Excited it breaks 7 on 7

Very impressive results everyone. I'm currently in the process of ordering an M14x and was expecting 3DMark 06 scores somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 to 11,000, so this is great news. Looks like the choice of DDR3 instead of GDDR5 wasn't that critical. Seemed insane at first.
-
just overclock the memory to 1080 and the bandwidth difference becomes negligible from a speed standpoint. It actually is higher than the stock ddr5 from nvidias site. They say the memory bandwith is 50.2 mine is 51.8.
