So I bought an outlet new m14x from the Dell outlet which is supposed to have no cosmetic damage...but since the thin foam sheet was folded over on the lid of the laptop which was face down on cardboard there is now a small spot on the top left (when the laptop is closed) corner where the "soft touch finish" is rubbed away, probably from being shaken around when it was shipped. The paint is still there...and I was just wondering if there's anything I can do that could serve as a replacement for the finish (maybe clear coat spray paint or something else you can buy online?). Plus there's some really light scratches on the bottom cover of the laptop...so at the extreme point I would just send it back, but I don't think that would be worth it. Can someone here maybe give me an opinion on what to do about the finish? It's really bugging me...I expected it to be spotless.

    Thanks.

Yeah positive. Just the same model as mine but a refurb cost 80 dollars less...but I thought it would be worth it for the outlet new one because it said it would have no signs of cosmetic wear and nothing was ever previously wrong with it

If it isnt refurb, you should better send it back, Looks like this unit was probably a used model or something. Packaging wont cause damages to the extent you have described.

You think I could do an exchange or something? I need a computer and I don't think I could get one with good specs like I have for that cheap again...plus if you refund it I think they charge a restock fee.

I guess you can return the unit within 5-6 days time if it has physical damages at time of recieving . But even after that, you have 21 days time to return the unit if you are not satisfied or you have a change of mind. But if you have had this unit for a time longer then 21 days, i am afraid there is hardly anything you can do about it now. Maybe some user who has returned his laptop for similar cause can help you more.

Well I got it the 17th but I called 2 days ago about it, and they said the department that delt with that stuff was only open on Mondays, so I'm calling tomorrow...also it didn't come in a regular box, it came in an really cheap box, if it was an un opened outlet new m14x wouldn't it come in a regualr alienware box?

Yea that sucks, but still doesnt make a ton of since...what if it is in the case where it never got shipped because it got canceled. Do they take of out the beautiful Alienware box to package it in an ugly one with no protection just a sheet and some thick plastic wrap? Kind of crazy...
