    Hi guys,

I have been thinking about overclocking my 555m, ive got the base config m14x (i5 2430m) with hd+ and intel 6205..

Since i've only got an i5 2430m the max temperature (under full stress) of the 555m is about 65 degrees, is that any good? How high would overclocking take it?

Oh and I really dont have any clue which tool to use, which one do you recommend?

Someone said something about nvidia system tools for example

    Thanks in advance

sasfe overclock i use is 700/1400/1000 (i think its that)
just move or type in the box - if your using msi afterburner- clcik apply.
you should tell with most games. bf3 especially increased its performance. safe temps anything below 70-80 id say is good.depends if you use a pad, and how long you game for

running 770core 1000mem, works fine without cooling pad and temps aren't going over 80... that's a larger 17inch laptop though, it's possible cooling won't be as good with the m14x but try it and see

It all depends on what game you play. I generally stay around 752/1504/1010. With games like WoW or Call of Duty I get around 80 degrees but with other game that aren't coded as well such as Final Fantasy IV I get temps in the mid 90s. This is the CPU temp, the GPU temp never gets very high. Make sure you're not in turbo mode when you're overclocking and gaming. Let the CPU run at stock speed or your temps will be way too high. Pick a good monitoring tool and always monitor your gaming when overclocking. According to the manufacturer, anywhere below 100 degrees Celsius is safe, even 99! Some users are use to desktop CPUs and want to stay in the 70s. Your GPU should never be in the 90s. Monitor your CPU and GPU temps with each game you play and adjust your settings to wherever you feel comfortable.

Im running at 830 stable, ive had temps hit about 82, (fans were blocked, my fault) but mine usually sits at 68-70 full load in mafia 2 or BF3, and runs nice and stable, but honestly overclocking dosent help all games, some games are boosted by 15fps and some only by 5, you have to decide if the extra performance is worth the heat, and that heat overtime will destroy your battery

If possible try disable the Intel Turbo Boost in the BIOS because it would help reduce since the GPU is soldered onto the motherboard, the heat is generate by the CPU it would cause your GPU to have a high temp.

I use EVGA Precision to OC the GPU, and I also have an Unlocked VBIOS so I can get more power from the GPU, usually without the unlocked VBIOS you would only able to OC up to 750/1500/1200 (Core/Shader/Mem). But since I have the VBIOS unlocked, I can OC it up to 945/1890/1100 (For some reason the memory lock at 1100).

    My current clock was:

When using 2D app - 600/1200/900, Temp (Idle): 35C ~ 45C, (Full Load): 45C ~ 55C (This was measuring when playing casual browser games)
    When using 3D app/games - 850/1700/1100, Temp (Idle): 45C ~ 55C, (Full Load): 50C ~ 70C (This was measuring when playing BF3)

For the NVIDIA system tools, I also tried it but when I start the program, it show me an error saying that it does not support the mobile series. There's also another program called MSI Afterburner, it work same way as EVGA, but it seem to give more trouble than the EVGA.

Link to Download the unlocked VBIOS: Voltage mod for the Nvidia GT 555m of the M14x Note * Use At Your Own Risk* But it is pretty safe as long as you dont OC too far.

Would you suggest overclocking the Gt 555m for all games or just specific ones?

I OC it for all games, and those Overclocking program has something called Profile where you can have it auto OC if it detect that there's a 3D (Games like BF3, Crysis 2 for e.g) or 2D (Web browser, normal program that doesnt use much GPU power) programs. So then I dont have to OC it manually all the time.
