    Hello everyone.

I was just wondering if there is any possible upgrade for my M14X. Bought it year and a bit ago and I'd like to get there stronger GPU than is mine current GT 555M.

Thank you very much for any info.

The M14x can only upgrade its RAM, CPU, storage (HDD/SSD), optical drive and the display assembly. The graphics chip is soldered onto the motherboard (which is likewise not upgradeable, in which case you might as well buy a R2) and thus cannot be replaced as with a larger machine using a MXM slot.

Bah. Thats quite lame. Is it Dell policy not to make things upgradable much? When I had my old AW I could upgrade GPU with no problems.

Well another reason not to stay with them in future.

    Anyway thanks for your reply.

The M17x and M18x are very accessible, from what I'm told and are still easily upgradeable.

The M14x is the exception to the rule, due to its highly vertical design. This is to help it maintain a compact chassis.

Salanos is absolutely correct, unfortunately the GPU is soldered on the mobo so you cannot upgrade it unless you get the whole R2 motherboard.

It depends on the location. Most likely it'll be pretty much like buying a new computer. For pricing info please send us an e-mail to [email protected] and we'll give you the detailed info.

It's probably cheaper and takes less work to just buy a new 14x R2

Its fine. If its the case I'll rather stay with my laptop as it is now. Thanks for the info anyway.
