Hi, the power button LED on my M14x has stopped working (not lighting up). The only time it does work is when the laptop is off and charging. It seems that when the battery is fully charged, it won't light up at all (off or on). So far, I have tried reinstalling Command Center, and I have made sure that Alien FX is set up correctly with the 'Infrared' profile. I've even made sure it isn't in 'Go Dark' mode :p Any help is much appreciated :)

You mean the battery charge indicator LEDs on the bottom? Those have nothing to do with AlienFX, they are part of the battery itself. You might be able to have Dell replace the battery for you.

Sorry if I wasn't clear, when I say 'power button LED', I mean the light that shines around the power button. It should show the computer's status (like a pulsing effect when in standby, or changing from one colour to another when charging).

You might have it disabled with AlienFX. Try right-clicking on the taskbar icon and look for an option called disable status light or something (i'm not on my laptop at the moment).

Thanks for clarifying. The old title was misleading, hence why I thought you meant the battery lights.

If you've tried all of the software settings in the Command Centre, you could try an uninstall/reinstall of it. Barring that, the wire might be loose, or just faulty. That's what warranties are for!

You're right, there's a 'go dark' mode, but it's disabled. My whole laptop's currently lit up vivid red, except for the power button :(. Even the Alien FX graphic shows it as lit up, even though it isn't. All of this indicates a hardware problem (ribbon cable disconnected maybe) but that doesn't explain why it lights up when off and charging.

No I don't mean that option. I mean this option:

    (It's in dutch)
It's the fourth option. If you have it disabled it will disable your LEDs from your power indicator, caps-lock and the wifi.
Enable it and then go dark and light again.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I tried going from dark to light with this option enabled, but no joy.

Try uninstall and reinstall the command centre again as everythingsablur said, see if it work.

Try download the version that's on M14x download page: M14x Drivers & Downloads
