I've tried everything now to overclock my m14x to a decent clock speed. I cannot even get a stable overclock at 730mhz, even with the unlocked voltmod A08 Bios, and a WHQL 290.36 Nvidia driver. I've heard people complaining about not being able to go past 800mhz, and other people saying some gpus have more limitations than others and they're all not the same...but not being able start Crysis without it crashing on me at only 730mhz (720mhz lets it run but only for about 20min), and sometimes even if I set it to 700mhz the game runs fine but I'll see a decrease in fps and I'll look at the clock speed and all of a sudden it's set to the default settings, is this normal? Should I try to find a way to warranty exchange this? I don't think they'll care if I say "I cant overclock it like I want to". Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

For those want to OC over 780/1560 you MUST use the modded VBIOS to do so, otherwise it will just capped at 780/1560 for most overclocking software. So you might want to try to use that version before you use that warranty thingy, and if even with that I sense a high chance that you will not succeed because Overclocking a system will not be cover by the warranty should anything wrong happen to the computer.

Here is the link to download the modded VBIOS *USE AT YOUR OWN RISK*: Voltage mod for the Nvidia GT 555m of the M14x.

Well I already have the unlocked overvolted A08 Bios from that very page...what version are you using from there along with what drivers? It looks like you have pretty good success with overclocking, don't you get up to like 850mhz?

I use the A05 modded VBIOS instead of the A08, the driver I use is same as yours 290.36 BETA, for overclocking yes but I can only OC up to 800/1600 without crashing games, however I also found out that BF3 will tend to crash even at that clockspeed, so I downclock to 780/1560, and that is the most stable one. I use to OC up to 850/1700 too but like I said it is too unstable, BF3 and Skyrim CTD after launch, and the temp climb to the point where it didnt happen on the 800/1600.

But can you tell me which of the GT555M you have? I mean is it GF106 or GF116? 1.5GB or 3GB? You can find it via GPU-Z.

I have the 3gb 555m and it's the GF116 which is why I think I have problems, for instance I had the a05 BIOS before but it it looks like for me it isn't compatible with the driver for some reason because there are no settings in the nvidia control panel once I flash it.
