So my new m14x is arriving in the next 2 or 3 days.

    The Specs are:

    Intel Core i7 2670QM 2.2GHz (3.1GHz w/Turbo Boost, 6MB Cache)
    4GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1600MHz
    1.5GB DDR3 NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M
    500GB 7200RPM SATA 3GB/s
    Intel Wireless-N WiFi Link 1000 a/g/n 1x2

I'm thinking about upgrading the ram and the wireless card with this:

    ---Kingston HyperX Plug n Play 8 GB Kit (2x4GB Modules) 1600MHz DDR3

    ---Killer N-1102 Wireless Card

Are they good for the m14x?

Sounds solid, might ask why do you need the extra RAM? If I were you I would run it on 4GB for the time being, there is little other than video editing and 3D design that requires a whole lot more at the moment.

I have a Killer Wireless-N 1102 in my (soon to be ex) M11x R2, I really like it, it is much better than the cheapo stock Dell card and is compatible for M14x (where I have the Wireless0N 1103, apparently no third antenna in the M14x so going for the 1103 rather than the 1102 is pointless).

Your are right I do not need that much ram, I will only use the laptop for gaming and basic stuff for the moment... and also read that the battery life is less. The Killer Wireless-N 1102 is a must buy. (and yeah no third antenna on the M14x) Thanks for the advice and have a nice day..

I just put a 3rd antenna in my m14x but haven't tested it yet though. took it out of my old studio laptop. You could consider that if you just had to have the 1103. the cheapest i have found the 1103 is 64.95 free shipping off of ebay.

The 1102 is more than enough for me, but let me know your results.
