RED or Black

My opinion experience on both is RED

 

Depends...red is somewhat informal, if your going to be taking it to interviews or meetings, go with black.

But Alienware pulls off the red extremely well. If your just using this laptop for school and stuff like me, go with red.

 

Agreen with you, but then you better get rid OF ALIWARE PUBLICITY on the main screen , cause it really shines and makes us look fulish ANY WAY

Red is 2011 color because is China, lol and it is really good looking & Chic! Bealive me! Black on plastic is Fingers FRIENDLY

 

Personally, I would never take any AW to an interview unless it was the low-profile M11X (lights OFF of course). Unless it was an interview with EA games or something like that lol.

The red on the M14X certainly looks classy though, not a bright red, not wine, but that perfect mix... <3

To me its not the red color as the problem, it's the alien head you can't remove.

I've only see one person in a professional setting use an alienware, and that was a freelance coder that also used it as his gaming machine. Business and Alienware don't mix, thats really the only reason I have not bought the m14x. I'm waiting for the new Envy14 and hoping it has a 900p display. If not I'll have to be generic and go ThinkPad.

 

Black ftw, black is sober and classy, and it'll fit with any color of alienFX.

 

If the M14X were completely RED (underside/front grill) I would definitely say go red. As it is, it looks unfinished. I ordered the black, and it will fit in with my 'hive' perfectly.

But I'm also the kind of person that keeps the AlienFX off unless I actually need it to see the keys. When it's on, it's just white light on the keyboard.

 

I don't need to see the keys but I love AlienFX, it's like changing the skin of your PC, when you set it to a color, and then after some days or weeks you change it, it's like if your all PC changed, I really like that.

 

Why don't they mix? Is it frowned upon to have good performing laptop? I'd buy the SONY-Vaio Z maxed specced if I was a millionaire though ;D

For M14x: Lunar Silver. Too bad its not offered. Or gun metal.

 

You can always apply tape over it. It's those silly grills (that aren't of any use) that makes it look unprofessional.

Because it's seen as childish and immature. You don't go to an interview in a beat Nirvana t-shirt when you want a good job do you? Like everything else it's about appearance and presentation.

Not everyone knows anything about computers, you may know how powerful it is, but the person interviewing you may wonder why you paid so much for something that looks like a toy.

 

So get a Sager, I don't like guys like you that don't buy a thing just because people will think something about you, will you act like that all your life? Do the things depending on what people will think about you? If yes I pity you.

 

You're in the alienware forum saying what essentially makes an alienware, "wasted space". Technically they are, but there are a lot other choices for better performance with less investment, if you don't want the grills.

 

And why did you buyed an alienware that have waste space.

And why did you wasted you money on useless upgrade like 3gb on the GPU?

If you're not happy with alienware nobody force you to buy it. Just go with another manufacturer. I know alienware isn't perfect, esspecialy since dell buyed alienware but their PC are good even if they are overpriced.

 

When it comes to an interview, it ALL depends on what the other person thinks about you.

 

Any place worth working at would instantly give you xtra cred for awesome alienware laptop.

 

Never bring it to an interview. If they so much as think that you wasted your money (true or not) flagrantly, they'll next wonder how much of their money you'd waste if you were to be hired to be in charge of spending their money.

Anyway, I'd go black. Black cameras, black phones, black PC's black speakers, whatnot. Black.

 

Why would you bring a laptop to an interview? Maybe to show a portfolio but then what laptop you have won't matter and if it did they will just think your work sells since you have a top line laptop.

While being a tech I had many laptops with me and all got questions on how I liked them or how they didn't like the brand.

 

Which lid color (red or black) is less a fingerprint magnet??? Or are both the same in respect to this matter???

 

Welcome to the real world. What people think of you is how you get hired, promotions, and raises. It's not ONLY in your performance.

 

He'll find out when he tries to get a job in the real world. There are two hats one must wear: the corporate/business/employment hat, and then the one on your off time. Heck, even some jobs (like both of mine for example) dictate how you should conduct yourself while off duty. I'm a Weather Forecaster for the HI Air National Guard, and an IT worker for the Dept of the Navy on my civilian job. Both require me to conduct myself in a manner so as to not bring discredit to the service.

 

I wish I joined the air guard instead of going active duty. Now i'm stuck in arizona but yeah I'd go with the black one

 

Of course. But they do not base a large portion of that judgement on what kind of laptop you own.

 

can't go wrong with the stealth black all the lights looks good with it. im not a big fan of the two tone colors. they should of made the laptop one color. instead of red out side black inside. thats just me tho

Even how you conduct yourself after you leave a job like serving in the military has impact on the person. I was a sniper for the US Army some people like that I served others don't like how I served. We all see people for what they did and who they are now and draw our own picture of who they are. I personally don't think its fair but its life and no matter if your laptop is black red or green you will be judge by it, its condition, its brand, its cost and if it was something you should have with you or not. Status of material things is just a fact of modern life. Sadly for us Alienware isn't a status symbol that's well known outside the gamers world.

 

I ordered two times so I had plenty of time to choose the color. While the majority of my friends told me I should buy the black one, I chooed both times the red one.

It looks more sporty somehow. The black one looks just like a clumsy fat thing.

Btw. the job interview thing.
When exactly do you have to take a notebook to a job interview? This scenario is highly doubtful. If I'm a member of a board of directors or something similar I would use a extra notebook for work. But on the other side, I wouldn't be ashamed of an Alienware notebook beside me on the table.

Curious about this question too, I cant think of any reason to bring an Alienware to a job interview though, what are you going to do with it?

Black is a colour of Dark Power, Ambitious, and a formal, Red is a colour of Blood, I like Red too but not on computer, or any other electronic device.

I do agree that black is more sober, but as i had both of them my experience turn me into RED

The only reason why, is that RED is less finger friendly on the BLACK one i had i had to clean it over and over

 

I do take since I need to show the portfolio and other things, to show that you think ahead is a good sign for those who hire you

Btw I voted red, however I would like to see the red in all the chassis (except the screen)

At least some other options. I hate red, and every laptop is black. Hell, I might have ordered a yellow one if it were available.

 

I got the black, but if it were available, i definetly would have chosen blue or green.

 

M14x is black, but my Vostro is red.

 

I think the Black ones are just too ordinary, although with Alienware nothing can be classified to have 'ordinary looks' its just that when you have the option for a Red exterior, why not go for it, since it looks pretty good actually?

Personally though, I loved the Lunar Silver options on the M15x and would have gone for that ABOVE ALL had it been available, but since it isn't its Nebula Red for my ordered M14x

Go for the red,I have both as I said before. It's a classy red,nothing like a fire truck red,its as understated as an Alienware can be.I even had an old dude, I mean like in his 70s tell me, "wow,that's a nice lookin laptop"then asked me a bunch of questions, and was seriously diggin it.It's not your fathers oldsmobile......I have lunar silver,black and red,I also had an older aurora Blue!Imho red's nicely done.Either way I feel too many pcs today are bland,Ie.XPS series,or are just variations of black and silver.Just my opinion.

 

That's the deal setter for me, I was wondering what my folks might say about such a premium purchase and I think you've just about cleared the air over that issue!

 

Yeah it was funny but pretty cool to see an old man who has little, to no knowledge of Alienware, be so interested in my pc..After all its not an Ipad.lol..nkdv,I'm really glad to help,and I'm sure you'll like your choice.My feeling is almost every laptop or desktop are black.....just my opinion.Enjoy your M14X, it's a beast in any color!
