Not sure if this is related to the GT555 issue on battery, but my system is now shutting down randomly.
The issue started happening a couple days ago and has progressively gotten worse. I've had it now for about about 2 weeks now.
From testing, it seems that if I'm using the keyboard or touchpad, the unit will shut off at random... if I use and external mouse and keyboard, the unit continues to function fine. This occurs whether powersupply is attached or on battery.
On phone with Dell now to have a technician come out...

This is not the same as the GPU on battery issue...good luck with tech support!

I initially didn't think it was either, but the tech that spoke to me said it might be related.
We'll see what happens when the guy shows up and diagnoses it in person.
The sad part about this is that out of the 3 Alienware laptop's I've purchased, two of them have had issues right off the bat.

Ouch.

Update:
Had to call support back because I've yet to receive a call from a technician to come to my office to repair my unit. They are telling me that the parts list is not available yet so they have to wait to at least 5 more days before a technician will even call me back. My other option is to send the laptop back for repair which will take 3 to 4 weeks before I have it back... what a joke. -
Same issue I'm having. The tech has called me a couple times though, each time trying to set a meet and ending the call with "oh wait, i don't even have the part yet!" >=(

Sorry to hear you're having the same issue as I with their "in home" service. I called back and explained that the situation was unacceptable and that I might as well return the unit and get a refund. The support person got authorization to have a brand new unit built for me and I will be sending back my defective unit.
Though I'm still not happy about the situation, I can't complain about getting a brand new unit. I was told I should have it in my hands by the end of the month...
