Hey all.
My M14x R1 came in the mail, and it had software issues. I had to wipe the machine from scratch.
However, upon reinstalling drivers, I cannot install Bluetooth drivers. It says "activate Bluetooth with the Function button". Inside that menu, only WiFi can be turned on and off. Bluetooth is not an option to be turned on.
Before wiping the device, Bluetooth was turned on in that menu but it too was not an option to turn on and off.
There is an unknown PCI device in the device manager still that I cant figure out.
What do I do? How can I change it?

It's probably the free fall sensor.

I am also having the same problem, just now contacted one of the reps from DELL, he did the remote diagnostic and after few mins of trying, he stated that it is probably bluetooth card is faulty. Therefore, on-site engineer will be coming down to replace the bluetooth card.
Under my system configuration under my service tag, it is indicated that bluetooth is installed.

Please enlighten me whether on my unit, the bluetooth is already installed or not because whenever i try to install the bluetooth driver, i am having the same issue with OmegaNemesis28's caseAttached Files:

If you press Fn+F3 and you stil get the bluetooth option disabled, try going into BIOS and see if bluetooth is disabled and try enabling it from there.
-
Done from bios. Everything is enabled. I want to confirm if it is bluetooth card
Faulty or not. When i press fn+f3, all boxes are greyed except wireless on box. If anyone got similar issue?
If it is bluetooth mini card faulty, on site engineer will come on this friday to change the card. Anyway, what is bluetooth mini card? Does it require to use with third party bluetooth device to establish connection? Any input appreciated. Thanks -
Bluetooh mini card is used to make bluetooth or short range connections with another bluetooth enabled devices so that they can transfer data to one another. For example, using bluetooth, you can transfer songs/pics from mobile to laptop and nice versa. you can also connect bluetooth headsets to listen to music.
Basically its a technology that connects two bluetooth devices. -
So with bluetooth mini card, does it require to use with third party bluetooth device?
-
It does not require any other hardware to work. Its a proper bluetooth device.
-
Yes it has bluetooth card installed.
Prior to reinstalling Windows it was enabled. After, it is no longer ticked.
Even when I got the machine, I could not disable it manually. It was greyed out but it said it was on.
So for it to be "faulty" is not correct, sounds like driver issues with Windows.
Lastly I already installed the Free Fall sensor. That is NOT the unknown pci device

I never notice when i get the unit in the first place. Then, when i see ur post and try to switch it on, i couldn't. It was greyed out. Bluetooth, Mobile Broadband and wirelessHD display all grey out.
I may try to reinstall to factory setting whipping out all the data and see the problem is still there or not. Contacted dell this morning and ETA for the part is estimated to be on this Friday. Before that, one of the agents do the remote diagonistic and satisfy that it was the hardware issue rather than the software issue -
please let me know how that goes then. Im quite curious. This makes little to no sense
-
Mine is confirmed hardware issue. As soon as the bluetooth card is replaced, windows installed the bluetooth driver automatically during the first time booting. Meaning the bluetooth card is fault since day 1 i purchased the unit.
-
Really?
Maybe I will just disconnect mine. -
press Fn+F3 and enable bluetooth sometimes its disabled by default
Reinstall Bluetooth
