Reinstall Win 8 after Win 7 Full Format.

Hello Guys,

I have been lurking around this section of the forum ever since I ordered my M14x R2.

I have a question, I got my M14x R2 with windows 8 Single Laguage English I think its called Windows 8 Core online.

As u know , I dod not order Win 8 Pro so I did not get a Windows reinstall DVD though I used to get on my win 7 systems (Home Basic for inspiron and win home premium for my XPS )

My queries are as follows.

I used win 8 for a week and then formatted it into MBR from the supplied GPT and installed win 7. Now, if I want to reinstall win 8 what are my options...

If i install a win 8 copy downloaded from the internet will it automatically activate by pulling my key from the BIOS ?

I never checked for the win 8 key when my win 8 was installed ... now i have a full formatted drive... meaning recovery partitions removed and win 7 installed... is there any way i can retrieve the key for win 8 in the bios and reinstall win 8 genuine ?

i dont have a win 8 dvd... , what are my options... i hope i have explained my problem..but ill clarify any doubts as and when discussion requires it... please help me out guys !

Where do I find the Windows 8 product key when it was preinstalled on - Microsoft Community

If you bought windows 8 from Microsoft, you can login and retrieve your key. Or just download the utility from the first link and follow the instructions.

 

But I guess these utilities work only when windows 8 is installed... I have windows 7 installed now after formatting my HDD. Is there ant way i can retrieve my BIOS Key ?
