So the tech came to my house to replace my screen do to the webcam issue, the problem was once he replaced the screen the webcam still didn't work and not only that but the screen he installed is 720p and I had the 900p screen. I'm going to call and get a refund and reorder a new oneI'm so upset right now

With good reason. Best of luck!
BTW, what was the webcam issue? -
-
Ooh ok...sorry to hear it. Hope they don't try that stunt when they replace my webcam/mic :-S
-
I don't think you need to do a refund though, just ask them to send you a replacement. If they refuse, then ask them RIGHT AWAY to refund the order. Dell flips out when you want to refund.
Also, be careful if you do decide to go through with the refund, and be VERY skeptical. When I refunded my m15x, the CS guy told me they would subtract $350 from the original purchased price, that the m15x was lighter in weight than the m14x (because I told them I was purchasing the m14x), and offering me all sorts of ridiculous coupons up to $450 if I kept the m15x. -
I agree with Zanpakutou, ask for a new unit rather than a replacement. I'm also in the boat of having a new unit built for my defective m14x.
-
I'd request a brand new unit and use the current one until the new unit arrived.
If they take too long to take care of your case, send an e-mail to Michael Dell (you obviously won't reach him but the people who monitor this e-mail get back to you in 24hrs and usually offer compensation/gifts). -

I googled it, is his email [email protected]? I want a big toy firetruck. -
The tech said I had two options either have another tech replace my screen or get a refund and reorder he said he was gonna give me a discount.

I just tested out my webcam and i have that blue flickering as well.... I suggest everyone try out their webcams to check if they have the same issue. Is there any way to fix this?

it fixed the issue! Thanks alot!

Dell - How can I return my Dell Order?
I'm afraid I'm going through this procedure as well, my machine is defective, screen flickering and flashhing...It's definitely the GPU

If a new screen fixes the problem, why should he send back the whole computer, wait for a new one and hope that that one has nothing wrong with it? Now I know that he has tried the other way and it didn't go exactly right, but he doesn't have much to lose by giving it another shot. -
if i'm under warranty and need a major component (screen, motherboard, gpu) replaced, and i had a choice to either get that replacement or have the whole computer replaced, i'd rather get the brand new computer :-S
i know these techs are certified to be digging around the guts of my computer, but if it can be avoided, i'd definitely take that route. especially if i can get the same computer at even more of a discount!!
that's just me though -
New > Repaired

Unfortunately their servers are down and I've been calling them since yesterday and still haven't been able to get the replacement
I'm getting really mad cus they keep telling me to call in 2 to 3 hours every time I call since yesterday
-
Same here, my computer is defective and I'm supposed to talk with the customer service today and was wondering if it's better having a new machine shipped or ask for a refund and repurchase the computer...
Both ways I'm afraid I still have to wait for a long time before I can enjoy my M14x... -
Is REFUND/REORDERING the ony way to get a replacement?
Anybody knows if maybe the can send you a new product and collect the defective one at the time of delivery? -
-
So they don't want to give me a system exchange I'm just going to get my money back....
-
Ridiculous that they won't exchange your system. You PAID for a system with a 900p screen, there's no reason you should be downgraded.

I'll just get my refund but it sucks cus I need a laptop for summer online courses
and after this experience idk if I want to get another alienware
