I have a faulty Alienware 14 and dell is replacing it. I want to know if its okay to move my ssd from defect Alienware 14 to the new Alienware 14. Will that be okay or will I need to do a clean install? Thanks for the help!

you should be alright as long as the hardware on the new machine is identical to the one that you are trying to move the drive from. Least that is my experience.

There's no such thing as hardware id for the components or drivers right?

well the hardware ID should be the same. A gtx 675m in an Alienware 14 if its the same silicon will have the same ID as the other dell 675m's in Alienware 14's. -
Thanks buddy!

Light bleed and screen bezel makes creaking sound.

Once you get your laptop, make sure everything is working as it should and that there are no hardware/cosmetic issues on it.
You can always return or request a technician to come to your home and fix it if necessary. -
My new system now has worse screen bleed. I guess I'll have to live with it
.
Anyway I move my 840 pro into the new system and everything works wonderful! I did not need to clean install. All I needed to do was change raid to ahci and change boot order in bios settings.

Sorry to hear about the screen bleed, but glad to hear that the SSD swap was uneventful.
Replacement 14, can I just move my ssd or need clean install.
