What's the performance difference with practical applications between the SATA II and the III? I'm coming from conventional mechanical drive so any SSD would be fast in comparison.

Should I go for larger capacity SATA II SSD or go for speed? I've read from the SSD thread that the M14x SATA III has some problems and who knows when they will be sorted...

There is no noticeable real life performance difference if you have the same SSD over SATA/300 and SATA/600, except for large file transfers. The interface itself doesn't make a SSD inherently faster or slower, though it can cap sequential speeds. The most noticeable speeds, random R/W, are far below SATA/300 and don't even break SATA/150.

So for me who cares about gaming and fast booting, I will not see that big of an difference ?

Installing games will take longer I suppose. -_-
