and both times the mic was never repaired. I'm not sure where to go from here. I know it's not a software issue and that it's a hardware issue...but how am I suppose to get this thing fixed?

I'd get on the phone again, explain the issue to a supervisor and demand it gets fixed. If you're firm about your demand, you could ask for some sort of compensation and they might throw you a gift card, M14X backpack or accessories.
Worst case scenario is use the Michael Dell e-mail and the top resolution team will handle your case within 24 hours. An e-mail should only be sent to them if you've exhausted all other options, though. They tend to expedite a fix rather quickly. -
Pretty sure it's [email protected] . List your complaint, personal information with contact info and your service tag/express # and someone gets in touch with you rather quickly. Most of the posts I read who have sent their issue to this e-mail have had their problems resolved.
It's either that or [email protected] . Pretty sure it's the first one, though.
Sent in my laptop twice to get the mic repaired...
