It shows the intel card. I've visited the total war forums and this is a noted problem with optimus, and some folks over there have posted some solutions but none of them seemed to have worked for me.

Any m14x users have any success with Shogun 2 recognizing their nvidia card?

Sorry I dont play that game, but I have to ask, have you whitelist the game to force it to run using the GT555M properly?

I do believe the problem only happens when you have dx11 activated? If i activate Shogun 2 with Dx9 the GPU shows as the Nvidia , But if i go for Dx11 it shows the intel integrated card. If you can move the settings around ( To high etcetc) It means you are using the 555m either way since it wont allow you to change the settings to high without a GPU.

ok you're right...in dx9 mode, the game does recognize the nvidia card. But it still lists only 535mb or video ram available....which means the ultra settings are not selectable.

It won't run on Ultra settings i'm afraid, the best you can hope for is everything on High with AA, SSAO and the rest on Max, however it does cope with it well. I'm a total war fan and have them all, there is a fix in the text files for Napoleon and Empire, to do with the videografx line, however you can't use it on Shogun, whitelisting the game still uses the GT555M card as without it you can only play on low. To try it to prove it's using the card, you can use the Nvidia menu to select the Intel HD card and run the game, it won't allow anything higher than low.

Hope this helps! BTW the difference between Ultra and High is minimal, thanks.
