It makes a creaking sound on the bottom left when I open and close the lid. The sound seems like its a cable or tape behind the screen. What should I do? Is it fine?

No, it shouldn't make any noises.

Ive had MANY lattitude laptops for clients and sonys and a few others that have had creaking and cracking noises. Never had any issues with them. It is annoying though and if it is tot he point of annoyance call AW theyll have someone come out and replace hinges im sure. I dont think its an issue that will cause it to break though. Unless its very stiff and feels like it it about to crack or something.

IT isn't completely normal, if you feel concerned about it you can open it and see if there is anything being forced.

returned it for a refund and re-ordered a new unit (did that to avoid getting involved with tech repair people). new unit has been squeek free and perfect since and we both live happily ever after

Should I be worried about my AW14 hinge?
