1. Rocketbar
2. Rainmeter
3. Several rainmeter themes
4. 3-4 hours of work/editing/customizing
(side modules track HD space, CPU/GPU usage, temps, ram, bandwidth, etc.)
Side Note - The entire customization uses 1GB of RAM. -
This is too reminiscent of /g/
-
Hahahaha I would have to agree... but can you blame us?
I mean we just got a brand new toy...
-
Aye, I guess. Why not just post actual pictures then? Im sure everyone would enjoy some R2 pictures.
Btw, youre not the guy on there who made the unboxing thread and stuff there a few days ago there? I was talking to some guy on a battlestation thread yesterday and he was about as excited as you lol -
Ummm... Nope... Doesn't really ring a bell...
I could post some pictures... But there is really little if any change whatsoever from the R1... :\ -
I thought I heard there were some port placement changes? So thats false?
-
No changes that I can see... The configuration is still...
Left: VGA, HDMI, mini DisplayPort, USB 2.0, microphone jack, two headphone jacks and memory card reader.
Right: Slot-load optical drive, 2x USB 3.0, Ethernet and Kensington Lock slot -
Doesn't matter. We want pictures.
Trust me, I'll be throwing up a few pictures of mine when it arrives in a few weeks.

Did you put those stickers on the palmrest?
-
hey VV1LLC, wha coolingpad are you useing?
-
No mate, they came with the R2

Cooler Masters U2 -
Whats the overlay on your desktop? Is that realtime info?
-
Yes it is mate... CPU Usage Ram Battery and what not...
It's a program called Rainmeter. You can download the skins and customize it how you see fit.
That's awesome... What did you use to remove them??? -
My fingernail for the windows 7 sticker but had to use the sharp point of a knife to get the processor sticker started, if your careful you can remove them without damaging them and move them to where you prefer =) Goodluck ^^
-
I managed to get them off w/o any marks!
Couldn't really paste them anywhere... they were all wrinkled at the corners and the glue was mostly gone... But no biggie! I hated those things anyway
Thanks mate! -
awesome theme! gonna get my m14x r2 real soon and try out the rain meter.. mind telling me what is the name of the rainmeter theme?
-
I usually carefully remove them with a razor blade... no marks yet, knock on wood.
-
Its a combination of tech, Dark Eve, Vision 13 and Dark Glass... But there millions more... D/L the one that suite your theme the best
Hope that helps! -
Thanks alot! I just realized there's such thing as rainmeter
-
Thats weird then. Ive never seen an Alienware come with the stickers on the palm rest. Theyre always on the bottom
-
Well I hope Dell doesn't start a trend... 'Cause I for one don't like it one bit... But if they do... At least we know already they aren't hard to remove.
-
Great desktops guys, you inclined me to do the same now
Yeah, seems like AW is adding stickers. See the nice pics Little Washu posted m17x R4 here has some stickers on the back that the R3 didn't have:

Nice pictures, guys!
But please don't post large images, let's think of the folks that are browsing our forum using a lower resolution screen.
Use the code below to automatically resize them:
