Sorry is it just me?

I love my new-ish M14x. I ordered it a few weeks after its release and I have never been happier with a laptop. (My history is with Hypersonic and Mac) The cost was good, the built was good, and the money I spent was worth it in my eyes.

Did I buy a 14" laptop, from Alienware, and expect it to run every game at max settings.... no. I bought a capable laptop from Alienware that can run games but keep its size to something I do not see as an issue.

Maybe it is just me but I come to this forum to look for tweaks (thank you Titan for your guide for 2nd HD), little things, and basic information on how to make my system better... unfortunately the forums have been flooded with garbage about how bad there M14x is. If you do not like it send it back. I realize there are same issues that can be worked out but those posts are not what made me want to post this.

End all be all, the M14x is a great laptop. Can it run modern games? Yes it can, not always at max but it will still be better than your Xbox or PS3. Is it portable? Yes it will run on battery for a respectable amount of time depending on what you are doing. Is it the greatest thing ever? No but this is just a stupid question...

The M14x has its benefits and faults but it is a great laptop that can game. Do not come to this forum and read all the complaints about how X Laptop is better than the M14x when 9 out of 10 times it is not even in the same league... (Ex MBP 15 is better build and faster.... yea and is costs 2200, or MSI/ASUS is better cost when they are still more expensive and weight twice is much with half the battery life).

Hell maybe I am just ranting but I cannot stand by while people bad mouth my favorite laptop I have owned without saying something... Maybe it is just me.

 

Actually I wanted an M14x as a "portable" gaming laptop up until you said MBP 15 is faster...Are you telling me the graphics card in my 15" MBP is better than the m14x? This is news to me

 

The M14x's GT 555M is more powerful than both the current-gen MBPs and last-gen's MBPs' graphics cards. It's on the same level as the 6770 or 6850 I think. Performance difference ranges from almost none to ~30%. Some people just don't know what they're talking about; and there're always the people who believe that Mac = better than Windows, etc.

 

People tend to go to forums when they are having a problem/issue, or just to complain a bit. This is common for most product forums. Just take a look at any other forum.

I also love the m14x, but it isn't perfect, nor is it meant to meet everyone's needs. I actually like when people find faults and reasons to complain as well as positive things about it. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion. Tone down your rant about m14x haters.

 

If you expect everything to run at Max, why not try the M17x and compare it with the MBP 17"? And like LVNeptune said M14x is Build for Portable & Performance where it is small with good enough juice to run most game Well but if you want to brag about MBP's goodness, why not try the one with the same size like MBP 17" with M17x at the max config.

And talking about M17x's max config, M17x can go 3D while MBP 17" I dont think Apple thinking to add the 3D option for it anytime this year.

 

Lol he said the 15" MBP is faster lol.

Forums are a good place to bicker,rant and generally moan about things

If you have a problem and need help..............thats what forums are for. Asking and helping like minded people with a common interest.

When someone rants and moans about a washing machine or chicken hutch on the m14x forum, thats when I'll have a cow

Good thread until this post. Umm no that will not "Pwn" my Mbp.. Cost to performance ratio sure the M14x wins but it's those little things too. You upgraded to a killer wifi card, the Mbp have standard wireless card that is just about as good minus the software. Anyway I'm looking into a M14x but this post is silly.

 

i'm glad you enjoy it...i did for a while as well. after dealing with hard disk problems it seems my graphics card or power supply is malfunctioning and I had to send my system to dell for repair. never had so many problems with my sager...i'm starting to hate this laptop

 

I was just kidding.

With that being said, I think anyone and everyone will find a way to rationalize why the computer they purchased or are going to purchase is the "BEST computer".
