    Hi Guys,

Its been a few days I've received my m14x and I noticed a few things.

    1) When I pay songs the MAX volume is really loud but when I play movies its really really low sound even on MAX volume but in both scenarios sounds very "cheap" meaning like output from cheap speakers.

    2) When i go to soundblaster x-fi folder and click on creative audio panel, it gives me the following error: "The audio device supported by this application is not detected. The application will exit."

EDIT: Also I want to mention that Creative Sound blaster doesnt show up in device manager either.

I really dont know what to do or how to improve sound quality.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you in advance

yea. had some serious driver problems with the realtek and soundblaster toolset here aswell.

i tried various versions from the net, but only got lucky with the delivered drivers from the discs. i had to remove/deinstall the drivers, "delete" em in the hardware manager, reboot dozent of times...

    finally it worked out somewhen.

    so my suggestion:
    1. deinstall drivers in hardware control
    2. deinstall drivers in software
    3. reboot whenever it wants to!
    4. reboot again. :)
    5. install realtek driver from driver dvd (setup tells you if reboot is neccesery)
    6. reboot. check is realtek is working and that you have the realtek tool running in the tray
    7. install SB Suite from DVD/CD, let it reboot when it needs to

atleast somewhat like that worked for me. i had no luck with new realtek drivers.
    good luck!

Hi guys! Just solved this issue after some hours of working at it.

First off, uninstall all Realtek and Creative software, remove audio drivers from device manager.

    DON'T REBOOT!!

    Next, go to Start-> Run-> Type "gpedit.msc".

Go to Computer Configuration-> Admin Templates-> System-> Device Installation-> Device Installation Restrictions-> Open: Prevent installation of devices not described by other policy settings.

Set to ENABLED. Hit APPLY. REBOOT!

Now, go to dell. Enter your service tag, get the Audio drivers for your laptop.

I have ACL665, so my drivers were here:

    Drivers & Downloads

This is my SERVICE TAG, in case the above link goes bad, you can find the ACL665 driver: GKJDRQ1

Once again, navigate to gpedit.msc, and set the policy you set before to "not configured". Hit APPPLY.

Run your Dell Audio driver installer. DO NOT RESTART!!!!!!!!

This is where it gets . :p

Go to device manager again, and delete/uninstall the audio device entries once again.

    REBOOT!

Now windows will install the drivers automatically at boot up, verify Realtek is in system tray.

    Insert Creative X-Fi Install CD!

DO NOT RUN THE SETUP PROGRAM!

    Browse the CD.

In the root folder, right-click setup.exe and got to the compatibility tab.

Set it to Windows Vista SP2. HIT APPLY!

Go to each other folder on the CD and do this for the other setup.exe's. in the root of that folder.

    Run the installer!

DO NOT SELECT CUSTOM INSTALLATION! JUST PRESS FULL!!!

Once it has completed, try to run the Creative control panel.

    It SHOULD now run!

    ENJOY! :D
