Some minor annoyances but is this covered under the warranty and what would they do to fix it? I'd rather not have someone attempt to fix a squeaky shift key and end up breaking half the keyboard.

Yes they will replace it with a new one, but in all likelihood the new one will squeak as well, and the mouse button won't be any better. I had them come and replace both. My space bar squeaked, and on the new keyboard the backspace button squeaks. The left mouse button is uneven and wobbly/cheap feeling on both. It's a design/manufacturing defect in all of them, not just yours. Some people just don't care... I'm obsessive about things like that and it bugs the sh!t out of me. I'm going to wait 6 months and call it in again; hopefully they will have fixed it by then.

Well 24 hours with the system and what do you know the left mouse button is lower than the right. Glad I got the two year warranty now.

It's no biggy to me really, just when I'm typing; while gaming the squeak is drowned out by gunfire.

How squeak is that? Is it sound as squeaky as other keyboard? Or is it annoyingly squeaky sound?

This is the only keyboard I've ever used where the keys squeak.

guess i got lucky, no squeks and no major defects, my spacebar is the slightest (and I mean slightest) bit slanted to the left but its unoticeable. my touchpad buttons are a little lower than my mouse pad but I think they are actually setup like that because I haven't seen one touchpad that has been flush

my spacebar is the same and squeaks every 4 or 5 clicks, but usually I don't notice it. I believe the touchpad buttons are supposed to be slanted, mine are too at least

I had a similar problem with the uneven mouse buttons, I got them replaced under warranty. They still angle more than I think they should, but at least now are even and look more correct. I had a squeaky space bar as well, which I didn't notice until after the first repair. But the squeak has gone away with use.

My mouse buttons are slanted a little too, but I mean is it really worth having them come out to fix these microscopic things?

Ok now some of my keys and trackpad buttons squeak. Anyone had a successful fix of this by Dell?

Mouse button I can live with, but this left shift squeak is annoying.

Yea, i just got mine two days ago and after an hour or two I noticed the spacebar and the backspace button squeek.

I just have the basic 1 yr warranty but maybe I'll call them on it closer to the end. You're right that it's probably just the design. Personally I don't really mind it's just a minor thing to me.

It's definitely better than my older m15x which had horrible key stroke latency issues that I could never seem to get fixed. At least with this I can hammer on the keys all I want.

Hopefully too it will just work itself in eventually! :D I was half tempted to see if I can lightly WD40 the thing but realized that may not be the wisest idea.

I hope at one point they realize that getting the keyboard/mouse slant and the squeaks fixed before shipping the laptop could save them a lot of money...

In my experiences, dell has horrible customer service and I think sending it back would be more trouble than it's worth
