    Greetings,

I just received a brand new Alienware M14x R2 , the first issue I noticed was the word ALIENWARE on the lower edge of the screen wasn't illuminating , I tried to switch it on using the AlienFX software , but that didn't work either. Does that mean it is a manufacturer defect or some settings I have to check?

    Regards,

It might be due to a hardware problem.

I remember once an Alienware tech was sent to my house to repair a faulty hinge, and after the replacement the ALIENWARE logo wouldn't light up anymore.
They sent another tech to switch the LCD bezel again and everything went back to normal.

Try a power drain. Turn off the computer, remove the battery and AC adapter, press and hold the Power Button for 30-45 seconds, then reinsert battery, plug AC adapter and turn it on, then try to create a new theme for AlienFx.

Let us know how it goes

Most likely it is a hardware problem ,
I will try the power drain , but is the battery removable on the M14x ?

Yes it is, you just need to take the bottom cover off first.

LOL. I suspect the power cable is not connected inside the chassis. It's a very small cable that can be overlooked.

I tried the battery drain no help, it might be one of the internal power cables not connect as digitalmo suggested ...

Have you tried to re-install the Command Center? If this doesn't work send me a PM with your service tag and phone number to schedule a repair.

^^^ You got yourself the answer. In case you are afraid to open it (being a new machine), all you have to do is write to Luis and he will have your problem solved, by sending you a tech to your house (most probably).
