Hey guys I don't know if any of you have tried playing the witcher 2 but its jyst runs plain awful! I mean I have everything as low as can be and the game just lags and is not playable. I do not think the m14x can handle it at all....which really sucks considering how the 555m handles crysis 2 pretty great.

Anybody have any tweaks or guides that can help make this game playable with a decent framerate at least?

    HELP!

Some folks here and other places are running on high. Try searching first and then let us know what you find.

Just bought the game too and it wasn't working for me at first. Works fine now.

    Two good threads to read:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/gam...0627-witcher-2-performance-issues-solved.html
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m14x/580273-witcher-2-m14x-6.html

    Things you should do:
    1) Make sure you have driver 275+ installed
    2) Whitelist witcher2 to run on gt555m
    3) Set PhysX engine to run on gt555m
    4) To maximise performance use custom user.ini (found in C:\xxx\Documents\Witcher 2\Config). Use any one of profile that suits your machine best. Refer tot he two threads above.

I updated my drivers when the game first came out, but I was also able to play it on medium without any issues. The entire game in fact. The other threads have dealt with this issue before. Also, once I updated my graphics drivers, I did not have to whitelist the game at all. Actually, I have not had to whitelist any game since I updated my drivers.

I run the game with high settings just fine. It plays beautifully, I actually went out and get the tron collector controller to play it with the Alienware and it looks sweet and completes the experience.

Now, I have the retail version, not the steam version, so I dont know if that makes a big difference.

i'm doubtful you can get decent framerates on high settings, but i'd like to hear more about your config/overclock so you can prove me wrong...

Mine plays with very decent framerates (even in huge battles) in a custom high setting.
    2630/6gb ram/gpu 1.5gb oc'ed to 750/1050

    Custom settings:
Switched in game vsync off and ran vsync + triple buffer out of game using D3DOverrider (this helps.. by quite a bit). And yes i'm on 1366x768 resolution. Playing at a lower resolution + all the blink blink is way prettier than playing at 900p with plain blocky textures. I hardly notice the downgrade from 900p to 720p. My PS3 plays most games at 720p anyway and no one I know complains that it has bad graphics.

Beautiful game once you get it to work. Took me 2 days to get it working as it should.

    Latest config:
    SSAO enabled
    Annoying motion blur disabled

With GPU OC'ed to 750/1080, i get stable gameplay at 25-35 fps.
    CPU/Ram stock.
