The solution for me was to completely uninstall the nvidia driver. (Even though other games worked fine) Update witcher to 1.1 (Now there is 1.2). Reinstalled the Beta Driver with a modded inf. (Now there is a newer driver)

The game ran great then. Other than the stupid mouse lag in the menus.

I was wondering if anyone has played recently (August 2011) and had any hiccups?

Got everything working. Just whitelisted my GPU to run on NVIDIA instead of the intel chip.

Hey everyone. I recently got the game and have been having minor difficulties. Mine are a bit strange as most of the time the game is playable ranging from 28-36fps but sometimes out of nowhere it just boggs down to 6-20 fps which makes the game noticeably laggy. It's a bit annoying tho and I have tried playing with the game settings to no avail.

    I'm oCd to 750/1500/1000

I have the 267.21 A01 Nvidia drivers from the dell website. What are some of the things I can do and how exactly to do them to make my experience a lot smoother?

I have read thru the thread and idk what an .inf file is nor how to get one or mod it. Could someone explain please and sorry for the noob questions.

    @ elracing21

Try playing without the overclock. You did not mention your settings so no idea on anything else.

If your by doing these changes and your still getting alot of lag then I suggest to open task manager and remove some processes to open up some process room.

These are the specifications I used to get Witcher 2 playing good. in game cinematics were not lagging
and gameplay as well. You still get the settings ingame menu kinda laggy but thats it dont know why
but thats just how it is lol

    I encountered the following problem:

The game starts with fps of about 30-35, but drops and remains stable at 10-15 in about 5 minutes of gameplay.

There is also stuttering/ cracking of sound occasionally (realtek hd with soundblaster)

I am using 275.33 drivers for my GPU (555m 1.5 GB)

Have tried all the modded files and stuff, but if I am forced to play witcher 2 on anything less than 1280 by 720, I might as well resell my alienware.

    Any Ideas?

I dont know about the cracking, but maybe the cpu is throttling, did you disable turboboost?

i disabled turbo boost and the only difference it made was change intermittent cracking of sound to continous cracking without any change in fps. I also updated all drivers (realtek, creative, nvidia) but to no avail. Please help.

    Hi again,
I have fixed the fps problem, to a good extent, but the sound issue is really getting onto my nerves.

Within 5 minutes of gameplay, the sound starts stuttering/popping/cracking. It causes the fps to drop from 35-40 to about 5-10. I noticed this in some other games as well, FIFA 12 and Chess titans (the one that comes free with windows)

I really do not know what to do about it. Please suggest something..

hey, i solved all my issues. Turns out my CPU was overheating after the A05 firmware update (i really don't care about fan noise anyway) causing audio stuttering and fps drop. Went back to A03, no more issues.

    Anyone else play this?

How does it perform with the new drivers? I'm thinking of getting the Enhanced Edition and it'd be good to know how it plays on which settings.

I have this same issue of noise cracking/ect... On my XBOX version... Yes I said XBOX... Whenever I use my PX5s I have these annoying cracking sounds that make it almost impossible to keep playing with them. It only happens with Witcher 2 Enhanced Ed. I can play BF3, MW3 Skyrim ect... W/o any problems.

I was surprised to read about the same problem on the PC version...

Great game!! It ran mostly maxed on my old 460m @900p so I expect similar results from the m14x r2. :p
