I have never liked touchpads. Most of the time I use my external mouse but whenever I run on battery I'm using the touchpad and the left button gets stuck all the damn time! Anybody else experienced this? I'm thinking I need to get it replaced cause it has been going on for months now.

Try updating the synaptics touchpad driver. To do this, first, go to the device manager and under "mouse and other pointing devices" find the "Synaptics driver", right click on it and uninstall it, re start the computer.
Download the driver from here and reinstall it, re start the system again and test it. -
@Natalia I think he is talking about a hardware left button issue being stuck caused by poor quality control or defect, not a software issue.
-
That is exactly what I mean. Not a software issue at all, I think I'll call for a replacement cause in my view this is a defect.

No need to call
just send us an e-mail to

Has it happened from day one?
If not, you don't eat Cheetos or the like when you are using the computer do you? Even if you don't there can still be a buildup of crud from your palms restricting the tight clearance of the touchpad buttons. Anyone that has ever owned an old school ball mouse knows what Mouse Crud is. I would check closely for that before I had a technician mess with my laptop. -
Thx for the tip havoc, I have a zero food/drink around my laptop policy. It has happened since day 1 but since I rarely used it it didn't bother me but not it does. My laptop has already been cracked open twice so is no longer pure ;(. It's definitely not crud, this laptop is too young to have mouse crud like the old school ball mice
. Sent an email to dell.

So how did it go? any updates on the issue?
-
Alienware called me and my touchpad is being replaced though the technician has not contacted me yet, I imagine he'll call tomorrow and set up a time. I do love that I don't have to send my machine in and be computerless for several weeks with my current warranty.

Hopefully everything will be resolved soon. Please let us know how it goes. -
The technician called me today and said they are still waiting for the part and that he'll call when it arrives. Shouldn't be long now...
-
Tech came to replace the touchpad today, so far no sticking

That's awesome! I'm glad that you got that sorted out already
-
Same here, I love alienware next day support
Might get an extended warranty, does a tech need to come verify my machine is in working order before doing so?

No they don't go there. If you wanna get that you might want to send an e-mail to [email protected] with your tag and phone and I'll personally review it if you add my name on the subject.
