The last time I was looking into USB 3 was before Ivy bridge came out and back then I heard that if you plugged a USB 2.0 device into the 3.0 port then all 3.0 ports would only run at 2.0 speeds, is this still true?

also: M14X due to arrive the 15th, can't wait.

It is just the USB 2.0 port, the USB 3.0 stay the same unless you plug a USB 3 device into the USB 2 port, that it will only run and cap at USB 2's speed. So I think you might have been misread that somewhere.

Hmm, that i know. I think it had to do with the pre-ivy bridge chipset if anything. I was just worried that if i were to plug a USB 2.0 mouse into the 3.0 slot then it'd lose the other 3.0's speed. I can't recall where i read it, might of been Newegg on a motherboard review but that was a while ago.

    Thanks :)
