I'm a proud owner of an Alienware m14x R1, and I've had it for about a year now.

I've recently did a fresh install of Windows 8, wiping everything except my pictures and iTunes files. I managed to get Alienware Command Center (though Alien Touch doesn't work) and maybe it's just me, but I swear to goodness the sound quality coming from my laptop speakers is worse. Everything seems more tinny now, especially in games. Am I just crazy or is this a real issue?

You have to download the creative sound drivers. It enables the equalizer and it makes a huge difference. They are located on the Dell Drivers page.

I noticed it too! I figured it was my fault, I spilled some red bull and vodka on my notebook like a month ago (it's ok!), and it was actually the same day I installed Windows 8 on it. Um, yeah. Anyway, I don't believe I have downloaded any sound drivers, so I'll try that later, thanks.
