Hi guys...sorry for rushing this...but i found someone selling a "SSD OCZ Vertex 30 GB SATA II" for 35 $...do you think this is a good deal...and if it makes sense to install it on my m14x and get a caddy for my remaining hard drive....i cant afford a 120gb ssd as of now...but i can surely save this money towards that...or do you guys think....this is a small amount that i can spend..and load atleast windows on it...what say??

It'll be able to hold Win7 but then your looking at 14GB left... So your paying 30 bucks for basically a high end flash drive... But anyways your choice!

Yeah Probably. Just wait and save up for the 120 GB it'll be definitely more worth it! And good job choosing a SSD. I had one in my old laptop and I could keep it on my lap and it would stay very cool.

Well its only 35 dollars, not like it's wasting money. And yeah the 30gb will be good enough till the 120's come down in price. 30 gig for 35 dollars is 1.16 a gig. A moderately priced 120 gb, lets say 220, is 1.83 per gig. So yeah it's better than a good deal.

If you don't do video editing, or anything much that involve high transfer rates, you really only need an ssd for the OS. And the 30 gb leaves you room to install programs you want to run fast on it, like browsers, etc. Plus a lot of people are having boot problems with some ssd's. Id get the 30 and wait till they get better.

Do note that SSD has limited write endurance and from what I understand you are buying a used disk.

So there's no telling how much endurance is left in the disk.

They do have a limit on the number of times it can write to it. But if it has trim support it will still run great, and it should last at least a few years, even if it's used.

I wouldn't, really...30GB is kind of cramped for an OS drive, especially with having to put all those windows updates on the same drive.
