Hello, Please excuse my ignorance but i must ask to find out...
i got this Alienware M14 for my photography business.. I had a Sony Vaio but it was not able to handle the
load of Lightroom and PHotoshop anymore.. I got this alienware because i was told and read that it had 1gig of Video Memroy(Dedicated)
so, I thought for sure that it would run my apps with very little wait involved - to my surprise, it is not working very well.. when i am processing images, the unit studders very bad.. I checked the memory and it reads Dedicated memory 32mb??? is this correct???
is this something that can be changed to 1gig???? if not, then this "Gaming Unit" IS NOT GOING TO WORK FOR ME!!!! I really do hope that there is something that can be done with this... thanks for any help that you can offer......

I think there is some problem with optimus mode when it doesn't switch on Nvidia card and run on integrated graphic when processing images..
Thus the performance was so terrible.
Did you tried to switch to discrete graphic manually? Try disabled Optimus by hitting fn-F5, and then reboot.

The amount of video memory does not equal performance. But it should be better than your vaio. As said above, did you go into the Nvidia software and tell it to use the Nvidia card for Photoshop? Also, depending on the version, photoshop may need to be told to use the gpu, assuming it is new enough it can.
