    I'M REALLY REALLY doubting on getting it, by the moment i get the laptop i wont get the transmitter (maybe) (if i dont ill get it around December )

    there was a problem with my transfer on HIDEVOLUTION, so im thinking on adding a momentous XT SSHD and maybe the wireless hd thing,

    QUESTIONS,
    1) Does the VIZIO $280 Wireless HD Video & Audio Kit comes with the two things, the transmitter (for connecting anything) and the receiver (that connects to the tv?), or just the receiver?

    2) does it work with for WIDI to? it would be great as i have a Vaio Laptop that has WIDI

    3) IS IT REALLY WORTH IT?

    4) will it be cheaper later?

    1) It does appear to include both a receiver and a transmitter. That would be in addition to the module that is installed internally in your m14x.

    2) It does not work with WIDI. Totally different technologies, though they fundamentally serve the same purpose.

    3) Depends on your needs. WIDI works off of the Intel GPU (or that is my understanding) and has some lag inherent to it, making it pretty unusable for gaming, but probably ok for presentations and whatnot. Wireless HD (SiBeam) is lag free, making it really good for gaming. At a certain point though, you have to ask yourself why don't you just plug an HDMI cable in...

    4) All technology gets cheaper over time, assuming the technology survives.

    since everythingsablur has effectively answered all your questions, I'll venture to answer no. 3:-

    I think if you

    (A) can afford it;
    (B) have a nice large display;
    (C) think you'll actually use it
    (D) don't like to deal with wires [!!]

    its probably worth your cash. Since its wireless and [apparently] lag-free, it'll be great for gaming since you can sit a comfortable distance away from the display and use the laptop's keyboard with ease, and you also kill the many frustrations of dealing with wires. Its also a plus for watching movies or just surfing the net, whatever.

    But then again, you gotta think - couldn't you achieve the same thing by using an HDMI cable? My thoughts are, you're paying something in excess of $280 for a fancy remote control feature ;) but then again its something cool to show off to friends and family :D the Final Decision is yours, sigh. Just weigh your needs/budget constraints before you splurge.

    [I'd personally spend that dough on an SSD or buy games with :D ]

    I ordered my M14x with the receiver and transmitter, I'm hoping its worth the money. It would be nice to leave my laptop on the desk and play games on the tv.

    But then you still need a wireless keyboard, wireless mouse, and a lapdesk, or a wireless game controller. Just throwing more and more money at this thing when an HDMI cable (maybe $10 online?) does the same thing, uses less electricity, and saves $200+. Wireless HD still has range limitations; you could surely just buy a long HDMI cable for less than the WiHD setup.

    It's a cool feature, I'll give it that. I've been tempted, but only if I could find a TV with Wireless HD built in. It just doesn't make a very good business case for itself when you through in the required receiver bundle.

    I agree that if you don't have all the stuff you listed above then yeah its useless. I'm going to use my desktops wireless keyboard that has a trackpad on it. But mostly this is just for gaming so i'll be using my xbox controller/w receiver.

    Why do people keep saying "just buy an HDMI cable"?

    It's the same thing? Maybe in the way the an ethernet card and a wifi network card are the same thing. They perform similar functions but are not the same. People, such as myself, want WiHD for the same reason as wireless network. I don't want a cable running across the living room that someone could trip over, or a dog could chew on.

    Is a HDMI cable cheaper? Yes, but a wired switch is also cheaper than a wireless access point.
