I am very behind on my gaming, so I took it upon myself to get up to date on various fusses that have seen so much focus from the media these last few years.

- Oblivion: I played this one extensively on my Desktop, but never above low-medium details. Now I'm on ultra and it's actually a different game. I've launched it a few times but I haven't played it, too busy staring at the amazing scenery. I plan on completing the main quest before Skyrim graces our machines.

- Mass Effect 1: I'm a huge Bioware fan, not a fanboy, but a big fan. When ME1 came out I went into a small depression because I could not play it. My desktop is old and outdated, and I didn't have a 360. When ME2 was released on PS3, I wanted it for sure, but I wanted to finish ME1 first.
I haven't played much but so far I find ME1 slow to start, and I'm not very impressed with Sheppard. I'll stick with it though because I'm pretty sure it gets much better.

- The Witcher 1: I wanted to try this game ever since I read the first reviews. My gaming time has dedicated almost exclusively to this awesome experience. It's gorgeous, fun, mature, interesting, violent and real blast to play. I can't wait to finishing it and jumping into #2!

- Neverwinter Nights 2: I could barely run it on my old desktop and I've had a hard time running it properly on my M14x. I was finally able to launch it without any patching, it seems to be the only way it will run.

- Portal 1: Factory installed with my M14x order. Very short game (1-2 hours max) but so much fun. Runs very well on HD 3000 GPU.

- The Lord of the Rings Online: Runs ok on my old desktop, so I play with my wife when our daughter is asleep. Much better than WoW imho.

- Wizard 101: Also with my wife, she loves this game. It's simple, cute, easy and free.

- Baldur's Gate 2 - Shadows of Amn: I have never completed chapter 3 with this game, something always happens that prevent me from finishing it, such as a need to reformat, a virus, etc. Since I don't need the big Nvidia GPU, this is the game I play unplugged.

I plan on buying Crysis 1 from Steam very soon, and also Skyrim, Diablo 3 and Rage whenever possible.

Also if Natural Selection 2 ever comes out I am doing that (it is a half-life/source type mod)

Installed Borderlands last night.

 

Does anyone know how to play games on stream when you have no network connection? Atm, I live with my grandma and she won't let me set up internet because she is afraid the cable company will see that she has been getting free cable for 20 years. The best place for me to game is at home also.

Steam has a guide on how to play in "Offline Mode." It's pretty simple but you will first have to have a connection to activate it. Maybe you can grab a wifi connection at a hot spot somewhere, configure it, and then once you're home continue to play in Offline Mode.
