    Hello guys,

Could anyone please tell me what might be the problems with my alienware m14x R1 ? I bought it 2 years ago, now it usually crash a lots ( Blue Screens of Death) like 1-2 times a day, and also the temperatures are always about 71 C~82 C .It goes up to 80-94 C when i do multi-tasks. I did bring my lap to a laptop repair center 2 weeks ago to clean out the vent fans, and also repast but the temps are still high (68 ~ 79 C) .

Another thing is : I did upgrade my RAM from 4GB to 8GB, 1 month ago. Could it be the problem? Because when i have Blue Screens, the screen says CRITICAL_STRUCTURE_CORRUPTION error. I did some google researches and found out the error is about memory, but some websites say that high temps cause this error.

So what is the problem here? Temps issues or Corrupted rams cause high-temps? Could anyone please help me with this ? Thank you so much.

P/s : i don't overclock my system, and use cooling pad everytimes i open my laptop. Moreover, because of my work, i use my lap a lots and sometimes didn't turn it off for 3-4 days ( or sometimes i forgot to turn it off lol ).
    My specs : i7-2630QM
    1.5GB GT 555M
    8GB RAM
    500 GB HD
    Win 8

It could also be a driver issue, but from your description i guess it's the RAM that is causing this error. Try to remove the added memory and
boot your computer with the original RAM, if your computer crashes again, you at least will know that it's not the RAM

Thank you for your response, Mastaa. I will try to replace the original RAM, but if it is driver issue, how can i fix it ? I cant find RAM drivers any where on Dell website.

By the way, I just find out some warnings from Administrative Events log :

Event ID 37 :"The speed of processor 3 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 1095 seconds since the last report"
Event ID 37 :The speed of processor 0 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 1095 seconds since the last report.
Event ID 37 :"The speed of processor 6 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 1095 seconds since the last report."

They are all come from the source : Kernel-Processor-Power. Could anyone please tell me what are these warning about ? how to fix it? Seems like i messed up my system pretty hard.

I didn't mean a driver issue concerning your RAM, you couldn't find one because such a thing doesn't exist. RAM is recognized by your systems BIOS :)

As for your processor, when did you upgrade to yours? I believe the 3630qm wasn't available when you ordered your R1?
Regarding your temperatures, Ivy bridge CPU's do run hotter than your originally installed Sandy bridge, and the cooling system of the R1 really isn't that great.

Yeah I'm sorry skylance, but the cooling on the m14x r1 and r2 isnt that great at all. Lots of people report high temps since it seems to be a common theme. Hopefully the new 14'' will prove to be better cooling. As for your laptop it seems like you re-pasted your laptop which is good and you cleaned out your fans for dust right? Your using a cooling pad also, so you're pretty much doing everything you can possibly do. What is the ambient temperatures where your at?

Oh i'm sorry. Its 2630qm not 3630qm. I must have mistyped it. I didnt upgrade any parts except the RAM. I updated BIOS driver to A05 from Dell Website, but i didn't uninstall the old BIOS driver because i don't know how to do it. Just download and then install the BIOS driver. Maybe i didnt install it properly so it causes all these troubles ?

Thank for your reply, Nivaku. Yeah, i took my lap to a laptop repair service to cleaned and re-pasted my lap, they are all experts there so i think they did it properly. I'm from Australia, therefore, the temps around here is about 11 ~ 12 degree Celsius ( 38 degree Fahrenheit) at the moment. So i dont think its the reason why my temps are high.

I have the exact same system as you apart from the upgraded RAM and Windows. I bought my system 2 years ago also.

Just in the past week the same exact things have been happening to me.

First it was a 'buzzing' crash when playing games, but yesterday i got my first ever blue screen of death.

I recently updated my GPU driver, thats when things started to go wrong.

My M14X has been going strong the entire time iv had it though.

If the issue started after that; Why don't you try a system restore to a date before it started?
