Since it's an Alienware m14x r2 that you're checking, I would suggest going to the AlienAutospy program and view the "performance and configuration history." I would look out for the "Critical events" and explore what caused them (if any).
-
In case the guy doesnt have AlienAutopsy, you can also use the Event Viewer, but it will be a little bit more complicated to read, but you'd know "Critical Events" when you scroll down the list, as they are usually have the Exclamation Mark (!) next to the report.

Thanks guys. How do I have him transfer ownership and the warranty to me?

be warned with event viewer there will be alot of "errors" in there that r normal

That's a nice M14X
Sorry for my indiscretion, but how much is the seller willing to get for it? -

You should also try this one.
-
Well, you can also DIY, if you have all of the information, and follow this link to the Ownership Transferring Website.

I purchased it today from him for $1,100. The warranty is good through June 13, 2013
and it is almost brand new, he has not even gamed on it yet!

What tests should I run when buying a used M14x?
