I finally had some time to play with the WiHD built in transmitter and the Vizio reciever. It is very easy to setup. The reciever connects to your video monitor or additional equipment that manages your monitor. The only problem I see with the Vizio receiver is that there is no on/off switch. You have to turn on the WiHD transmitter using the software and then when it finds the reciever it allows you to connect. Once connected you can configure the display as if it was physically connected.
Now, some notes. The built in transmitter appears to be installed in the lower left corner of the display lid (facing the monitor). If you place your hand in front of this area the signal gets interrupted and the external monitor blanks out. Another note is that this area gets extremely hot. So hot that I am concerend it will damage the display becuase the transmitter is so close the screen. The heat is constant and does not fluctuate. I am now having second thoughts of using this transmitter.
If there is anything else I have failed to mention or if there are any questions please ask. Also, any ideas on cooling it?
