Is the default wireless card honestly that bad where you should get a different card to play online through WiFi? I am still saving up all my money to get the M14X, and I don't want to have to wait longer to get the wireless card upgrade. If it is so bad though, I do have a internet cable in my room I could always use that is connected to the internet router. Also, don't they sell USB wireless cards that would do good? How much are they? Finally, what are any of the current discount coupons going around for the system now?

For me personally I'm happy with the default wireless card. It plays fine with SC2, MW2, and such. I get about 18mb/s down and 5mb/s up.

yea i have the basic non upgraded card and it works perfectly! i havent had any dropped games or any connection issues at all. I know some people have had trouble with it, but i dont think that is due to a problem with the basic card design, but rather individual unit problems....save your money and go with the basic, if you have problems later, you can always upgrade via third party options....

i got a student discount with a free xbox 360....idk if they are still doing the xbox, but if you are a student, b sure to mention that

I got the xbox 360 deal and had to get the Intel 1000 card. It worked just fine but everyone said it was horrible so I figured for $20 I'd try the 6205. It probably increased the range of my wireless by double and signal strength by 25-40%. Sitting in my living room I'd see my 3 wireless networks and my neighbors, after the I installed the 6205 I could see about 6 additional networks with 2+ bars.

So yea, while the Intel 1000 gets the job done for $20-$25 bucks it's worth the upgrade for the extra range and signal strength. Is upgrading from a Intel 1000 to 6205 going to give you the edge to frag a noob any better in BFBC2? Probably not.

I thought there was one for 50 dollars more and another for 80 dollars more? Or am I mistaken?

My m14x had the default wireless card in it, and I did not have any issues with it. However, to reiterate what Client said, the range/signal strength is a little weak...if you're going to be pretty close to your access point all the time I guess it would be okay, but if I carried it a few rooms away in my house the signal strength bottomed out pretty quickly. I would upgrade to the 6250 if it's in your budget.
If you're planning gaming online with it in public places where many people are going to be connecting to the same access point, then I would even say to do the $30 upgrade to the Killer-N card (but only if you're gaming online using public wifi).

Yes if you buy it from dell. If you buy it after matket and install it ( takes about 5 minutes to install) it only costs like $25 shipped.

Alienware used to offer the Intel 6205 card without wimax as an upgrade for about 20 dollars, as well as the 6250 with wimax for 50 (I think). Problems were found with the 6205, so it got pulled and replaced with the Killer Wireless 1103 for $80.
