alienware m14x r2 gets to warm?

Hi all i think im haveing a strange issue with my alienware m14x r2 it was running slow lately (while playing some games) so i decide to chek the temps this was around 60/70 when idle so i decide to renew the coolpaste with succes, i also bought a cooling pad i hoped the issue was solved but i keep getting high tempratures around 40/50 when idle and around 105 or so when playing a game with unreal engine my fps keep around 32 or so

are these tempratures to high for this laptop?

and if it is what can cause this problem?

*edit* i think i found the solution my laptop used the intel chipset when i selected the nvidia control panel then select high performance nvidia processor and i set the texture filtering to High Quality it gave me 62 fps with medium settings i think this laptop just doesnt handle it to well but atleast it runs better then it did before XD

 

Those temps are extremely high. I would strongly suggest re-seating the cooler again. The CPU shouldn't be going above 90*C under heavy load.

 

so it needs more coolpaste on the cpu? (dissasembly for this laptop took me a whole day ) looks like i can plan in another day to put more coolpast on it? or is there another option that can resolve this problem?

 

Don't add a lot. The CPU only needs a small pea-size blob and the dGPU a bit more. Make sure you use good thermal paste and also make sure you have screwed in the cooler well. Contact needs to be good otherwise it won't work well.

 

alright thx in a few weeks i got vacation so i guess i will have a day to dissasamble the laptop (i will buy new coolpaste this time) and i hope that will solve this problem, because i remember few years back i felt like the laptop is more powerfull probably the heating issue is holding it back =-|

 

Well. Just as a warning - anything above 95*C is dangerous. Really, try to keep it under 90*C if possible. Use something like IC Diamond. A good quality non-conductive paste is vital.

 

alright thanks for the tips i will look into this i heard a friend of mine needs to clean a laptop to so in the vacation we will fix this issue and this time once and for all i hope
