Got my new M14x, lovely, works well and put together well.

I have noticed the battery charge indicator on the bottom does not work, i'm not concerned as i can see how much charge is present when i have it turned on but i'm curious.....Has it not been activated or is there a software fix?

    Cheers

You might want t press it harder, for mine I have to press it very hard, sometime I felt like I might break it, lol.

turn the laptop over and directly above the fan there is a little slit with a picture of a battery and 5 squares which should light up when you press the the little slit, indicating how much battery remains

Yeah the light is actually on the battery itself. If you unscrew the bottom, you'll see the button and lights on the battery, pretty neat design.

i just put a small piece of duct tape on the inside of the backplate, over the button, so now i dont have to press as hard. works well.
