so i recently bought a bluetooth adapter for my m14x as i did not have one built in. I noticed that everytime i have the usb plugged in, my window does not boot. Black screen, even when i closed the laptop, fans and lights are still running. Is there a fix to this? or do i simply have to pull my usb out everytime it boots?

    Try this:

Power on your laptop, press F2. This will lead you straight to BIOS. From there, go to the Boot tab, and select hard drive. Press F10 and then Enter to save changes and exit. see if it works.

Sounds like the computer is trying to boot of the USB dongle, is there an option somewhere in the bios to turn off boot to USB? That would fix your issue. ;)

As the others said, you need to change the BIOS settings. Somewhere in there, you'll find an ordered list that BIOS goes through one at a time to find a bootable drive. Just make sure HD is at the top.
