winkawak, look at this way.
The m14x got updated with Ivy Bridge, everything else stayed the same.
We'd see better battery because the CPU was improved, and more fluent video playback. The 555M performance alone would be EXACTLY the same, but with the new CPU you may get better fps because its just a better CPU overall.
So battery would be improved, and gaming would be slightly improved, but nothing with the 555M would be changed at all

Improvements to the CPU power consumption will have no impact on a GPU's power consumption though. If an Ivy Bridge i7 moved from Sany Bridge's 45W TDP to 40W TDP (example, no clue where Ivy Bridge CPUs will land as far as TDP), but the GPU you are using is still 75W TDP (Which is about where GTX GPUs are), you aren't gaining a ton of power. 120W -> 110W TDP total for the two components, exclusive of other power needs (RAM, motherboard, wifi, LCD)... Not tremendous, but every little bit helps. -
