I ordered an m14x with 8gb of ddr3 1600mhz ram. cpu-z says that the ram is running at 667mhz. I haven't touched the bios. do you think that i got the wrong ram?
-
also i have the 2720 processor...
-
also, i'm reading that i have kingston memory. dell doesn't install kingston does it? did hidevolution steal my 1600mhz ram?
-
Please don't bump your thread. Wait a modest 24 hours until doing so.
(Per forum rules)
It is called an "Edit" button as well. -
-
under spd though i'm seeing that the max bandwith is 667. i don't think that is true if you have the 2720
-
Thats my screenshot from my M14x

yea. they gave me the wrong ram. calling to get upgrade. i appreciate the help. sorry to seemingly spam.
-
right out of the box you had that desktop background? now I know what dell/alienware install technicians do while they're supposed to be setting up laptops
-
...i was hoping someone would comment on the background lol ...anyways...am glad i could assist ....it also made me check on mine
-
I believe that was a CPU-ID glitch. It really is running at the right speed..
-
how do you know? everest confirms these findings. can someone with a 2720 processor run cpu-z?
-
You know... it occurs to me that you could just open the box and physically inspect the RAM. It should be marked. That would pretty much settle the question of whether the right stuff was installed and you wouldn't have to jump around sifting through software reports.
Of course -- you could always have malfunctioning RAM -- but I tend to think that would show up in more interesting ways than just a slower bus speed. -
Cant post a picture right now, but just checked real quick. I overclocked in bios to 1600mhz, but my CPU-ID/Z is locked at 800mhz.
Cant really confirm, it was just in another thread with the same issue from the past.. -
For DDR you double the mhz that are displayed under the frequency
-
It's running at 1600. Also where do you see OC ram in the Bios? There is none in mine I can see?
-
you have to press enter on the performance options (i was confused too as it just looks like a header above other enable/disable switches, read the descriptions on the side as you scroll down the settings)
-
so i opened it up and there is an id'ing issue with this ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104230
did i get cheated?
