ill be purchasing an m14x with a 2720 cpu and i want to upgrade it to 8gigs .. but i cant seem to find the difference between these two sets:
Newegg.ca - Kingston HyperX 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Laptop Memory Model KHX1600C9S3K2/8GX
and
Newegg.ca - Kingston HyperX 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 HyperX Plug n Play Laptop Memory Model KHX1600C9S3P1K2/8G
just refer to them as black and blue, will be easier to communicate![]()

I think the 1st is better because it have a lifetime warranty and supports XMP, maybe it's just an upgraded version of the second link, because they have the same frequency, the same CAS latency and the same voltage.

no, really, i don't know..but i went with the X one since it was same pricethey look awesome.

okay, and you have no problems with the blue one at 1600 mhz?
also i wonder why the black one is more expensive, albeit not by much -
-
hmmm it should be running at 1600, no? can anyone else shed light on this? i just dont wanna get the wrong ram, i wanna get 1600mhz if im paying for it.

If you go to the Kingston website and go to manufacturer:
Kingston Technology Company - Memory Search - Modelsinfo
and click on the 8G HyperX version, the website links you to the black version. I think the blue one is just the older version. I don't know if there are really any architectural difference, but the grey one does say 2nd Gen i5 i7 plug and play. -
yeah i noticed that too, does anyone here have the black one?
i might just get the black because it looks cooler ahahahaa -
Yes, the blue one is the older version, that's all. As for the actual speeds, should work @1600 with your CPU.

thank you, was just looking for some confirmation on that
difference between these two types of ram?
