I read others posts on forcing the nvidia gpu to run particular games instead of the Intel gpu but I do not know where to begin. Can someone post a bit of direction for me?

You need to whitelist the game. In your taskbar there should be a Nvidia Icon, open it up and click on the Manage 3D settings on the left. After that Click Add and choose the .exe of whatever you want to put on it. Then you can choose the default gpu for that program.
