hi every one
Ive buy crucial 256gb m4 msata iii and already install it in my device but lately Ive found that it can be on my M14xR1.
Ive traded to find fix for that by the bios and and and so far no solution.
i wander if there is any way cuz i just want Msata as the primary for the OS and the other HDD for storage .
please help me out.

The R1 doesn't support mSATA, the R2 does.
-
OK but is there any way to enable it throw bios.
-
It's a physical port that doesnt exist on the R1... There is no way to enable it..
How did you install it? You probably put it into a mPCIe slot, which is just not going to work. -
OK but is there any way to enable it throw bios
AND REGARDING how ive put it
under the battery in the far corner beside the wifi card. -
That slot is a pcie slot. It is not wired to run a msata card. If you wish to use a msata you must buy a new m14xr2 laptop.
There is no bios option to turn it on because the slot is not set up to run a msata card. -
Like they said, its a hardware problem not software. If you figure out how to get it running on the R1, do let us know. I am sure nearly all the R1 users would thank you.
-
i believe it's bios thing rather than hardware.
it need to unlock the bios and mod it to accept the msata just like R2. -
It is not a software issue. It may fit in the port but it is it is not wired for it to work in that port.
-
msata drives need to be installed into a msata port, that's not a msata port. You can hack the bios all you want, it's not going to work.
-
but are you sure???
-
It's all a huge conspiracy.

That will not work because it does not have the wirings needed for it to run.

if you already got the mSATA SSD I would suggest getting a USB 3.0 mSATA enclosure. I just got one made by My Digital SSD for the Mushkin Atlas 120GB I had in my R2 before replacing it with a 240GB. it makes for a incredibly fast and small usb drive. at least that way you can get some use out of it. either that or a mSATA to 2.5" SATA enclosure/converter to allow you to replace the stock HDD.
-
but Ive got this problem now while installing the windows it gave me this message
"windows cannot install required files.Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart installation. Error code: 0x8007045D"
note
the windows is the orgenal one that come with M14x R1. -
have you formatted the sdd? also does it get to the part of the windows install where you select the drive to install to, or do you get the error before it asks where you want to install? ill try my best to help you out if I can.
-
Ive format it ton of times and the error code while expanding windows file during the installation
and Ive tray to make it bootable and nothing so far
for your info
its msata and i bay a enclosure for it to make it 2.5" -
sorry i need final answer ether there is some way to make it bootable and run the windows OS on it or decease the msata issue and make it external drive.
-
as a few others have already said, the slot is not physically capable of booting from the mSata drive.
its not some software thing that can be tweaked or hacked, its a hardware thing.
the M11x R1 was like this too. you could plug stuff in all day long but you could not boot from a SSD in the mSata port. it just wasnt wired up that way, so it was physically impossible.
i would ether sell the drive you have or get a nice enclosure and use it as a portable drive. -
throwing a idea out at you.
you may be able to get a msata to sata adapter and swap it out for your DVDrom?
if you dont use your DVDrom much this could maybe work? im not sure 100%

try removing the second hdd from the optical bay during the install. then after windows is installed you can put it back.
